This weekend we began an exciting new season for American Legion Baseball in Utah.  We have strong southern leagues for 19u (AA) and 17u (A) classes, plus have added a 15u (B) class this year with teams from across the state.  Each class will have a state championship tournament at the end of the season to determine the top teams in Utah.  

19U championship week will be July 26 to August 1st at Kearns Gates and Salt Lake Community College, including a college showcase the night before the first games of the tournament.  It will be a 16-team tournament combined with teams from the northern Top of Utah league. The winner will advance to the regionals in Fairfield, CA.

17U championship week will be July 17-20th in Layton, UT.  It will be an 8-team tournament combined with teams from the northern Top of Utah league. The winner will advance to the regionals in Cody, WY.

15U championship weekend will be July 12-13 in Pleasant Grove, UT.  The winner will play the northern Top of Utah league winner on July 20th at Mountain Crest for title of state champion.

We are pleased to welcome a host of new-comers this year, with 21 teams competing in 19U league, 20 teams competing in 17U league, and 8 teams competing in 15U league.

Results from games will posted weekly on this website for all 3 classes.

State playoffs begin on Thursday and continue through Saturday to determine the 4 teams that will advance to the state championship tournament held July 27-Aug 1.  The playoff schedule is as follows:

• Salem Hills vs Springville at 4:30 pm Thursday July 19th
• Helper vs Taylorsville at 7:30 pm Thursday July 19th
• Pleasant Grove vs West Lake at 4:30 pm Friday July 20th
• St George vs Roosevelt at 7:30 pm Friday July 20th

Skyridge and Dixie both elected not to participate in the state playoffs this year.

Final standings will be posted late Tuesday night after games.  The top 4 seeds from each division will qualify to participate. Games start Thursday evening at 4:30 pm at Pleasant Grove.  An entrance fee will be charged to all games to help raise money for players scholarships and costs for the Utah State Championship tournament held in Salt Lake.  The top four teams from the Utah Southern League Playoffs advance to the State Championships which begin July 27th at Gates Field in Kearns. 

As we enter the bye week and home stretch of the regular season, the standings are tight as teams compete for the league title as well as the top seeds for the state tournament.  Standings are as follows (and can also be found on "Results" tab at top of the page).

The top 4 seeds from each division will compete in the first round of the state playoffs held in Pleasant Grove.  Playoffs are currently scheduled for July 19-21, with the state championship tournament the following week in Salt Lake.

The Utah Southern 17U League regular season play ended on June 27th, with Kanab and Pleasant Grove taking the top 2 spots in the league and advancing to play in the state tourney.  Pleasant Grove defeated Helper 10-1 and Kanab beat Hurricane 5-2 in the playoff round to advance to the state tourney finals in Layton. 

On June 29th in Layton, Kanab and Pleasant Grove were both victorious on Day 1 of the state tourney, with Kanab drumming Syracuse 10 to 0 and Pleasant Grove pounding Layton 11-1.  On Day 2, Kanab and Pleasant Grove played each other, with Kanab pulling out the victory 4-3.  As first year entries this year, neither team was eligible to compete for the 17U state crown, but both provided a superb showing and paved the way for the Utah Southern teams to compete for the state championship in 2019 and beyond (with the winner advancing to the western regionals).  Congratulations to both teams on a great summer season and solid performances at the state tourney!!

The inaugural 17U Utah Southern League regular season finished today with a tight race down the stretch.  After final games played Monday night, the final standings ended upas follows:

State playoff games will be played Wednesday night, with Pleasant Grove hosting Helper and Kanab hosting Hurricane (Desert Hills chose not to participate due to lack of available players for weekend play and both Snow Canyon and Pine View forfeited too many games to be eligible).  Winners on Wednesday will be the final 2 teams and will travel up to Layton for games Friday and Saturday in the state finals.

Things are off to a hot start, with many games already played in our first 2 weeks of play.  Game results and standings are found under the "RESULTS" tab above for both 19u and 17u leagues.

he 2018 Utah American Legion Southern League season is set to kick off its best season ever!  We welcome back returning programs from last year: Pleasant Grove, Dixie, Helper, Price, St George, Vernal and Roosevelt.  We also welcome in newcomers to the 19u league, as well as the inaugural season for the 17u league.  New teams joining this year include: Skyridge, Salem Hills, Springville, West Lake, Skyline, Taylorsville for 19u and Snow Canyon, Desert Hills, Hurricane, Pleasant Grove, Helper, Virgin Valley, Kanab and Pine View for 17u.

On the "Teams & Rosters" tab at the top of the page you can find each division for both the 19u and 17u leagues.  With growth comes challenges, and so we apologize in advance for any issues that may arise this year.  But, we encourage all teams to stick with it, let us know of concerns or ways to improve, and help to make the national treasure of American Legion a key part of Utah for years to come.

Congratulations to our 8 qualifying teams for this year's Utah American Legion Baseball Championship Tournament!  This is the week where all the long, hot summer work pays off.

Congratulations to all Utah Southern League teams on a fine season!  We appreciate the participation of all coaches and players as we continue to build again the legacy of American Legion baseball in the great state of Utah.  American Legion baseball is woven into the fabric of this state and it's resurgence is an important tribute to the thousands of players that have been influenced by this service organization.

We express thanks for Jeff Cisneros and the Helper community for being such outstanding hosts for our inaugural state playoffs this weekend.  There was some great baseball played and we appreciate to all teams that showed up and gave their best. Baseball is a game of commitment and dedication.  Those players and coaches in attendance showed their commitment to excellence.

Also, all players are invited to attend the Utah American Legion State Tournament players skills night/showcase held at SLCC Cates Field on Tuesday, July 25th at 6 pm (3491 West 9000 South).  The event is $50 for any players not playing in the state tournament (free for qualifying teams).  Please wear team uniform to allow ease of tracking players during the event.

The 2017 Utah American Legion Baseball season is here!  The following teams will compete this summer for a chance to compete in the Utah State Championships on July 26-29 in Marshall Gates Ballpark in Kearns, UT:  St George, Dixie, Pleasant Grove, Corner Canyon, Roosevelt, Vernal, Helper, Price and Sevier.
