Our Background:

For over 20 years, the Women's Hockey Academy of Mississauga Ontario (WHAMO) has been offering hockey programs targeted towards adult females 17 years of age (as of December 31st of the registration year) and older. We offer up to six tiers or levels of play plus pre-season hockey instruction.  This fall/winter season there is capacity for 4 teams in the Development D Division, 4 teams in the Novice C Division, 4 teams in the Intermediate Rec B Division and 4 teams in the Intermediate Competitive AB Division.  Teams in all divisions are guaranteed 24 games including play-offs.

Our Divisions Available For The 2024/25 Fall-Winter Season:

Sunday D - Beginner Development  

Designed for beginner and developing players.    Participants should have some basic hockey skating skills.  If possible we recommend that a hockey skating and/or hockey skills instruction  program be taken prior to signing up for league play.  The league reserves the right to move a player to a higher division if their style of play does not fit this program.

Sunday D+ - Novice

Designed for players who have played at the beginner/development level for several seasons and/or have taken skills programs or for players who have played at higher levels but have slowed down.  All basic skating and hockey skills have been mastered and the beginner level pace has been outgrown.  This Division is not suitable for players who have the skill and speed to play at a higher level.  It is not suitable for any player who has played rep hockey unless it was as a child.  The league reserves the right to move a player to a higher division if their style of play does not fit this program.  

Sunday C  - Novice/Intermediate 

Designed for novice players who have played at the D/D+ level and are ready for more challenge or for players who started playing at an early age.  Ideal for intermediate skill level players who enjoy playing the game with varied skill levels in a mentoring role.  Good skating skills,  basic hockey skills and an understanding of the rules of the game have been attained.  This division is not recommended for beginner players.

Sunday B ad Tuesday B - Intermediate/Adavanced Recreational  

Designed for intermediate/advanced players who enjoy playing the game with players of a similar skill level.  Most players in this division played some rep hockey or many years of recreational hockey having started at an early age.  Some advanced level players with a non-competitive attitude may prefer to play in this division.  Excellent skating skills, good hockey skills and an understanding of game strategies and set plays has been attained.  This division is not recommended for beginner or novice players.  

Tuesday AB - Intermediate/Advanced Competitive 

Designed for players at an advanced or intermediate skill level who have or are approaching excellence in skating ability, hockey skills, set plays and game strategies including systems.  Players enjoy executing with intensity and speed and are generally more competitive.  Suitable for OWHA current and former AA, A, BB, B rep players.  Not recommended for players who have never played rep hockey.

 A -  Advanced Competitive (Elite) 

Designed for players at an advanced or elite skill level who have achieved excellence in skating ability, hockey skills,  set plays and game strategies including systems.  Players enjoy executing with intensity and speed and are generally more competitive. University/College Rep or OWHA rated AA or A recommended. Generally not suitable for players who have never played rep hockey.

Our Fees For 24 Games:

Team Entry Fee:  $7,300 including HST  

Individual Player Entry:  $600 including HST

Individual Goalie Entry:  $100 including HST
