WELCOME TO THE WOODVILLE SOUTH FOOTBALL CLUB - Juniors

The Woodville South Football Junior Club compete as part of the SANFL Junior Football League.
The club prides itself on its core values of community accessibility and individual player development, both on and off the playing field. We provide an opportunity for junior players (aged 5 to 18 years) to develop their football following a defined path, in a safe and inclusive environment.

As part of the broader Woodville South Sports and Social Club, the Woodville South juniors have a membership in excess of 400 people and with policies actively in place and is one of the first South Australian clubs to achieve STARCLUB status

We are also immensely proud of the number of volunteers who commit their time to ensure the successful running of the club. Mutually beneficial relationships with other community and sporting groups are also being developed to grow our positive profile within the community.

Our Ledger Road clubrooms are on well maintained grounds that provide us with the opportunity to host many fun events throughout the season.

We would like to welcome all junior footballers and their families to become part of this football club.

Important: Working with children check information

Working with Children Checks.

It is compulsory for all Club volunteers including Committee Members, and all Team Officials including Managers, Coaches, First Aid Officers, and Runners to provide us with a valid Working with Children Check.

In addition, we recommend completion of “Play by the Rules” online training as part of their volunteer role.

Obtaining a working with children check

People working or volunteering with children in South Australia must, by law, have a Working with Children Check.

A Working with Children Check is an assessment of whether a person poses an unacceptable risk to children. As part of the process the Screening Unit will look at criminal history, child protection information and other information.

A valid DHS/DCSI child-related employment check will be recognised as a Working with Children Check until it expires. Then, you must apply for a new Working with Children Check.

Don’t leave it until the last minute – allow at least six weeks for processing your application.

Excluded people

You don’t need a working with children check if you:

• work for SA Police or the Australian Federal Police, or
• are under the age of 14.

Apply for a check

You can apply for a new working with children check online yourself. Once you have the clearance please email a copy to the club.

 Play by the rules

In addition, it is recommended all officials complete a “Play by the Rules” online course which should be repeated every three years.

The free course features two modules:

1. Child Protection

2. Harassment and Discrimination

The two course modules provide information to help you understand:

what discrimination, harassment and child abuse is your rights and responsibilities under equal opportunity and child protection laws how the laws apply to sporting organisations, clubs, their employees and volunteers when, where and how to report incidents how to establish a welcoming and inclusive environment at your club or organisation.
