Due to economic hardships that have been creating challenges for some of our teams to attract players we had to contract from 12 organizations to 10, which means 2 organizations have been disbanded and the schools for those organizations have been moved to other organizations. The 2 organizations disbanded are the Eagles and Vikings.
In order for the re-alignment to work and to create a more competitive balance in GPWF, we also moved some other schools around.
Further, we have also made some changes regarding magnet schools. A player attending a magnet school in GISD will now play for the organization which the players home address is closest to. To simplify, magnet schools within GISD will now be treated as private schools under the GPWF Constitution and By Laws.
This change will in NO WAY effect 6th grade. Austin and Jackson will still participate in GPWF, the re-alignment only effects elementary schools, or Flag thru 5th grade.
The school alignment has been revised and has been posted on the web-site for you to view.
This was not an easy decision for us to make, in fact we have been working on this plan for about 5 years now, anticipating a need to fix the continuing lack of participation in some grade levels. The plan passed by a unanimous vote of the GPWF Board of Directors.
Change is not always easy, however with everyone’s understanding and cooperation this transition will only make GPWF stronger and more competitively balanced.
