Beliefs
* A belief is an idea that is accepted to be true.
* Beliefs make up the convictions of the athlete’s values.
* The coach shapes the athlete’s beliefs by earning his trust.
Values
* Values direct the way the athlete thinks.
* An athlete can sway side-to-side depending on the situation.
* The coach must teach the importance of holding true to their moral values.
Morals
* Morals dictate how the athlete behaves.
* The coach should encourage ways of sound character.
* The coach’s responsibility is to unify the team’s behavior.
Team Policies
* Policies are set in place to protect and guide the athlete.
* The coach must be consistent in handling team policies.
* Less is more; this allows the coach freedom in discerning situations.
* It is useful to allow the team to make their own policies.
* Players will take ownership in them, and the coach can be available to walk them through decisions and consequences.
* Focus on making relationships, not on making rules.
