On Saturday, 17 Cougar wrestlers competed in the JV County Tournament at Gaithersburg High School.   We had our hands raised after 20 matches during the day.  Zeph Titus (freshman/285) and Isaiah Briscoe (junior/145) both earned 2nd place trophies.  Matt Fuster (junior/195) took 3rd place honors and Danny Henn (freshman/170 lbs) grabbed 4th. Tony Wimmer (sophomore/145) was 3-2 and Nick Acosta (sophomore/160) went 2-2, both losing in the consolation semi-finals and tying for the 5th/6th place positions in their respective weight classes. QO crushes Seneca and just misses beating Poolesville. The Poolesville match came down to the last match with Poolesville leading 36-30. QO needed a pin by senior Jeremy Zhu to tie the score.  Jeremy wrestled a great match and won by decision but the Poolsville wrestler successfuly stalled his way through the 2nd and 3rd period from the bottom position to prevent the pin.

At the 2nd Annual Cougar Claus Tournament Quince Orchard finished 7-1, with their only loss to Northwest (43-18). They beat Northwood (64-6), Stone Bridge (61-17), Colonial Heights (49-25), Sherwood (39-34), South Carroll (38-37), Pallotti (54-21), and Paul VI (38-37). Coach Wolf gives a shout out to the 15 JV wrestlers who competed with about 160 other grapplers from 7 schools at the First Annual Bulldog Bash at Winston Churchill High School. Congrats to Bryan Rivenburg and Fares Hussein for both taking 1st place in their respective round robin groups. Bryan was our only undefeated wrestler of the day. Alex Blackman, Henry Canova, Brian Tunson, Tony Wimmer, Nolan Barkdoll, Nick Acosta and Matt Fuster all won two bouts a piece. Danny Henn and Hunter Bunai each had one very solid win to go along with some tough wrestling in their other matches. Ryan Lampos, Ali Manon, Tyler Enceneat and Zeph Titus also made very positive showings in their very first wrestling tournament experience. Coach Scott and I were very proud of this whole group for their positive energy, good sportsmanship, great camaraderie and continued hard work and improvement!
