THESE ARE YOUR HAWKS

Before they were the Hayward Hawks they were known simply as the Hayward City Baseball team. That's the way it was for the first six years of the club's existence. The nickname "Hawks" was adopted prior to the start of the 1976 season following a club sponsored contest. The winning entry was submitted by Mr. Lawrence Lamphear of Hayward and the club has been known as the Hawks ever since.

The original logo used by the team, the Hawk with a baseball bat was the work of Charlie Hessel. An art student from Cameron, Wisconsin at the time, Charlie came up with the logo design in 1994 as the Hawks celebrated their 25th anniversary.   Mr. Hessel by the way is currently a teacher in the Northwestern of Maple school district. Mr. Lamphear passed away some years ago.  In the spring of 2016 Dalton Hessel, who is an outfielder/first baseman for the Hawks came up with a new logo design.

 A more menacing looking Hawk replaced the one that his uncle Charlie designed 22 years earlier.  At least it stayed in the family.  The Hawks are grateful to all three gentleman for their efforts and their interest in Hayward Hawks baseball. .
