BTAA is always looking for individuals who want to help our players learn softball & baseball.  If you are interested in volunteering as a head coach, assistant coach, or just a parent helper, then please contact:

Anyone interested in assisting on the field during practices or games will need to submit their clearances (background checks) in compliance with Pennsylvania and league requirements.  In addition, some of the leagues we participate in require certain coaching certifications (see below).  Some of the clearances/certifications take a while to obtain, so we recommend you start the process right away if you'd like to be considered as a coach.

Clearance Instructions

The following must be completed every year:

           ·         Disclosure statement for volunteers (from is available HERE)

The following must be completed every 5 years (aka the Pennsylvania clearances):

·         Report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State police (online)

·         Child Abuse history certification from the Department of Human Services (online)

·         FBI Criminal history (if you have not lived in PA for the entirety of the previous 10 years)

Once the above preliminary requirements are complete, you will be given a link to access the following:

The following must be completed once:

            ·         Abuse Prevention Training (a link will be emailed to you for this online course)

The following must be completed every 2 years:

           ·         A separate Nationwide Database Search (Instructions will be emailed to you as soon as they are available)

FBI Criminal History

A fingerprint based federal (FBI) criminal history submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent is also required, unless you have been a resident of Pennsylvania for the entirety of the previous 10 years. If you have lived in PA for the last 10 years you must complete and return the volunteer affidavit document (see FORMS)

If you haven’t lived in PA continuously for the last 10 years, then you will need to get the fingerprinting done.  This is a multi-step process and takes a while to complete, so PLEASE, start the process now at the following website.

If you already have clearances for other volunteering (PTA, other coaching, etc.), please forward a current copy for our review.   Otherwise, please start tracking the info down right away.

Coaching Certification Requirements

The following must be completed one time for baseball head coaches at all levels  from T-ball thru Majors (ages 5-12)
