What is the BTAA Work Bond Program?

The Work Bond Program requires each family to post a Work Bond, which is a $150 check.  The Work Bond is destroyed once each family fulfills the volunteer requirements

Why does BTAA collect a work bond?

BTAA is a 100% volunteer led baseball program.  We count on our members to volunteer in order for the program to be successful.  Faced with declining numbers of volunteers and decreasing support from the Township, BTAA institutes a Work Bond Program to encourage the parents of our players to volunteer to help maintain our program.

How are work bonds being collected?

Work Bonds will be collected by head coaches.  Teams will not receive their Jerseys until all work bonds have been collected and turned in.

What if I choose not to volunteer?

If you do not volunteer, your Work Bond will be forfeited. However, we do not view the Work Bond as a revenue source, so we would prefer you satisfy your family’s Work Bond volunteer obligations.

If I forfeit my Work Bond, how will those funds be used?

If you forfeit your Work Bond, the funds will be used by BTAA for field maintenance, equipment purchases and/or capital improvements.

What volunteer opportunities will satisfy my Work Bond volunteer obligations?

Any single activity from Group A, or any TWO activities from group B

Group A

-         Managing or Assisting with a team (coaching, covid volunteer)

-          Holding a board position

-          Serving as a coordinator (uniforms, fundraising, sponsorship, concession stand, grants, etc)

-          Concession Stand opener

Group B

-          Participate in field clean-up day

Work a shift in the concession stand (working 2 separate shifts would satisfy the requirements)

-          Provide concession stand support – cleaning, food buyer, etc.

Procure a "Fence Banner" Sponsor for the current season.

Other misc volunteer efforts that may come up, if approved by the board

Why have the volunteer requirements increased in 2021?

There is simply more that needs to be done.   Here are some examples of the additional effort that is now required to run our programs

- after losing last year, the fields needed more prep work

- with the return to play plan we are recruiting more team volunteers this year to help facilitate games & practices (this decreases the pool of volunteers for all the other misc stuff)

- we also hope to have more concession stand dates this year (as families have complained in the past that it wasn't open enough)

- the township used to take care of all the field raking and lining for us... that is no longer the case.
