 FEATURED TEAMS

BU99 NPL...BORN between JANUARY 1, 1999 and DECEMBER 31, 1999...this is a team for "higher" level players. We will be traveling to several out of town locations as we complete the S2014 season. You can play on an LIJSL (NERP or REGION1) team AND STILL be eligible to play for this team. As is the case with all FCNY teams, we play out of the HBC SOCCER CLUB. All of our home games are on played on the best grass field complex in the entire NY metropolitan area. Since the focus will not be on "winning", the boys are given more responsibility and are encouraged to make mistakes without worrying about the results of the games. This team practices 2x per week.
IMMEDIATE ROSTER SPOTS ARE AVAILABLE!

PRACTICES ARE HELD EVERY MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY 6:00pm-7:30pm

GU13 FORCE...BORN between August 1, 2000 and July 31, 2001...The FORCE are a very competitive team and are 2013 NY CUP Semi-Finalists. We practice and play in several leagues and tournaments. We play a very nice possession style of soccer and are looking for dedicated players who are looking to improve their individual skills and their understanding of the game. While we do not focus on winning, this is the age where the ability to play the game properly begins to lead to success on the field. With a great foundation of players who have been a part of our program for several years, we are looking to integrate some new girls. We are looking for a goalie and a few position players. The girls play in the NYCSL so you may be eligible to play even if rostered on a different LIJSL team.
IMMEDIATE ROSTER SPOTS ARE AVAILABLE!

PRACTICES ARE HELD EVERY TUESDAY AND THURSDAY 6:00pm-7:30pm

GU15 GALAXY...BORN between August 1, 1998 and July 31, 1999... The GALAXY are an extremely competitive and dedicated team. They are 2013 LI CUP Semi-Finalists and 2013 NY CUP Quarter-Finalists and currently play in LIJSL. We play in out of town tournaments and practice and play in several leagues and tournaments during the winter. This team plays outstanding soccer. The majority of the roster has played together for many years but we are looking to add a few players to the roster as we begin our college showcase years. We play in a college showcases. Under the supervision or our licensed head coach who has over 21 years of youth soccer coaching experience this team is coached and trained by a former D1 college player. Due to injuries we are looking to add 2 players to our current roster immediately.

INJURY PREVENTION & WARM UP ROUTINES

March 27, 2014

FCNY is dedicated to providing an educational experience for all of our participants. Nothing is more important than injury prevention.

Many of you know (although some do not) that we have a Doctor of Physical Therapy on staff...my daughter Laura. I know the value of proper fitness and fitness routines and will be working hard over the next year to incorporate a vast array of services to our members. Laura has a local office where she specializes in the treatment of athletes and while she cannot by law advise you on specific injuries unless you are client, she can answer general questions. Feel free to email her at  Laura.Neuburger.DPT@gmail.com

Important to injury prevention is the institution of a proper warmup which is to be done PRIOR to physical activity. It is very important that the proper muscle groups be "fired" at the proper time AND in the proper sequence.

We have instituted our first warm up routines with one of our older teams (the GU14 Apaches) and will be rolling this out to rest of our teams as well. We will begin with the oldest teams first as they are the ones this will benefit most due to their muscle mass.

Please note that the program is FACT BASED and is in large part built upon recommendations from FIFA (if you do not know what FIFA is...google it!). It is important to note that just "DOING" these warmups without proper technique otherwise the children are better off not doing them at all.

Below is a link to an interesting piece from ABC News that addresses this very issue.

"Your children's youth sports experience will end, and it may happen suddenly. Hopefully, you will not look back and think, "I wish I had enjoyed it more instead of obsessing over performance, or playing time or the team's record." Enjoy the experience; it will end too soon."
