A product of College Park, GA,he attended Carlisle Sr High School. Jones attended Tallahassee Community College and Florida State University taking business administration while also taking classes at North Harris College in Houston, TX for criminal justice. He also played basketball for 18 months overseas in Yongsan(Seoul)Korea, and Turkey in 1995-1997.
Since arriving in Houston in 1999, he has been involved in playing in the PRO AM League and coaching. He coached with the Acres Homes Youth Association little league in 2003-2004. In 2004, he also started coaching with L&S Youth Sports League and coached the L&S Airwalkers AAU team with strong success.
Starting in 2006, he founded an organization called Hoop City Elite and successfully helped 17 at-risk young men attend college with scholarships. He has continued to be involved with basketball as a coach, consultant, mentor and a conditioning trainer for athletes 9-17. With connections with college coaches at different levels, he has been able to work with young men and give them an opportunity to participate with different college programs.
In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his daughter, attending church and watching movies.
