This will be Chris Behrens fourth year helping out with the high school team but he is a familiar face among Union Football. Not only was he a captain and Defensive MVP for the 1989 Knights team, he has coached first-grade flag football teams through 6th grade at the padded youth football level from 2009-2015 as well as being the KYFC coordinator from 2012 to 2015.

After high school he went on to play at Wartburg College and was a 3-year letter winner as LB and DE, Iowa Conference champs 1993 and Division 3 playoffs 1993 (with Corbin Payne).

Coach Behrens went on to coach the varsity line at Waterloo Columbus in 1996 where they made it to the state playoff quarterfinals. He also coached Defensive Ends- as a Grad Asst. at UNI 1997-1998.

Chris is now an engineer for the Waterloo Fire Department since 1998 and lives in Clutier with his wife Andrea and their kids Benton, Ellie and Grant. Ben is a senior this year and Grant is a freshman, they are both out for football.
