Shannyn J. Gillespie, a former U.S. Olympic Education Center Coach & USA Wrestling National Team Staff Coach, has an extensive background in High Performance Training & coaching teams at: 34 National Championships, 12 international tournaments & camps, 4 World Championships, & 1 Pan American Championship. He has also coached individuals to: 29 National Championship Gold medals, 14 World or Pan American medals, 5 USA Wrestling Outstanding Wrestler Awards, & 1 Olympic Bronze medal.

Coach Shannyn will be the director of coaches whose primary focus will be on training and developing coaches and student athletes via the U.S. Olympic Communities “5 Stages to a Better Sport Experience”:

For his outstanding career as a athlete & coach, he was inducted to the: Illinois Wrestling Coaches & Officials Hall of Fame, Eastern Wrestling League Hall of Fame, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Hall of Fame, & Evanston Township High School Hall of Fame. Coach Shannyn was also a U.S. Olympic Training Center resident athlete, an NCAA D-I All-American, & an Illinois State Champion.

From 2004-2012, Coach Shannyn led the nations only U.S. Olympic Education Center (USOEC) for female freestyle wrestling. The center enabled America’s athletes and coaches to prepare for the Olympics while continuing their education at Northern Michigan University or Marquette Senior High School.  Through the USOEC, the USA Wrestling (USAW) resident athlete program made a major impact at national and international events and created a Hall of Fame to indicate the timeline of events.
