I'm OK with any of those dates Mack. The further away, the longer it gives for organising.

Make it the 23rd.

I can make any of the above dates, but that amount of notice is more than enough for everyone to arrange the time off etc ... it also gives more than enough time to sort out the venue/trophies/whatever.

What about the Union as a venue?

watermill was roughly fiver a head, buffet for 35/40. plus it was upto us to get the music an stuff sorted out. all we need is a shot of a pa to make the presentations

I can easily better that ... buffet might not be as good, but we'll supply a DJ as well.

How many people we catering for? under 100?

Could do it all for about £100

i reckon with 25 guys on the team, if they all bring at least one, its gonna be fifty, but u never kno, probably not everyone will make it. will try to firm up numbers at training. would be good if you could get that sorted for the 23rd and we will try to confirm ice for then. what we started last year was pick two teams between all the guys in the club and have an inhouse match to end the season. was good banter an my team won!!

Won't be available this Saturday, hero duty.

That mean we have to wait till next season to wear our new strips?

It will be a scunner if Braehead are lifting the ice, since the impression seems to have been that other extra training days would have been available. I'm sure there will be ice available elsewhere outwith the season at reasonable times if this is true.

Guys, just to confirm - Braehead have done a complete U-turn and are lifting the ice on the 20th May (this Sunday) and not putting it back down until mid august.
It is a purely business decision! It is probably reasonable to accept that a privately run arena with all the variety of other events that they host, cannot run on the same footing as a municipal ice rink! Summer ice at Braehead was always going to be a bonus, if we got it. The sums don't add up so we didn't get it! Therefore, light the barbie, knock the bung out the beer barrel and watch the finals of the Stanley Cup on NASN!!
Maybe we could organise some events - like a golf day ; a waterskiing day ; An inline roller hockey day ; or even a piggy back race....with real pigs!!!

that all sounds rosie faitha.
one question? what will we do about the direct debits do we continue at the existing cost do we put it down to £20 or do we just cancel it after the may payment.

I think we should continue to pay it, as it took us ages to get it sorted the first time, it will help the funds to build up and the guys will benefit later in the year when we don't have to charge for games or tourneys.
What does everyone else think?

Bill

I won't be able to make the practice on Saturday but don't reckon I pass as a goalie anyhoo!!!

I think the next months payment should be used as registartions fee's aswell. Anything extra used for games etc like Stonewall suggested.

Don't have a problem with the fees still being paid, but there were a few of us that paid our registrations at the AGM, so an allowance would need to be made there. We could grasp the nettle and actively seek games through the summer, even at 'away' rinks and organise games against the likes of Inverness, Dumfries or other far-travelled teams. I'm sure the likes of Murrayfield & Stirling (even Kilmarnock at a push) will have plenty free slots they'll be happy to let somebody pay for.

I don't have a problem with keeping the monthly payments going, for utilisation along the same lines as put forward by Bilbo. However it is something which should be discussed and ratified at the next committee meeting - which appropriately should be brought forward to the earliest date possible.

Thanks for bringing Paul this mornig Andy. Keep in touch with him during the next two months, if you can. I have spoken to him about signing next season and he is keen to do so. That would take the current number of goalies up to four(4). However my gut feeling is that we are not going to see much of Gregor Wright, so realistically the number would be three(3)!
