This past weekend the Burlington Bulls took to the field for the final time in 2007, taking place in the Whitby/Brooklin invitational tournament.

Game 1 of the round robin saw the Bulls face off against the Brampton Pearts. The Bulls overcame some harsh temperature to make it a quick game with a 15-0 mercy win. Andrew Swagers picked up the win.

In Game 2, the Bulls faced the OSBA champion Brooklin Dodgers and got up early on an Andrew Swagers 2 run HR. The Bulls would never look back and won 8-1 with Cam McKnight pitching a complete allowing only 1 unearned run.

The Bulls were already into the playoffs, but needed to win Game 3 vs the Scarborough Psychos to secure first seed in their division. Eric Conlon pitched well and the Bulls bats continued the onslaught with a 13-2 victory.

The semi-final playoff game pitted the Bulls vs the Whitby Chiefs. The Bulls went up 1-0, but a 2 run homerun off Bulls starter Tom Malyk, put the Bulls down 2-1, the first time they’d trailed a game all tournament. The Bulls didn’t let that last long and responded with 4 runs in their half of the inning. Cam McKnight came in to pitch the final 4 innings and the Bulls advanced to the finals with a 6-3 win.

In the finals, the Bulls faced the 3-0-1 Missisauaga Stars. It was a pitchers duel early, until the Bulls took advantage of a Stars error to go up 2-0. Jamie Kozak helped his own cause with a bases clearing double that put the Bulls up 5-0. They added 1 more and Jamie Kozak pitched a complete game shutout as the Bulls won 6-0 and captured the tournament championship with a 5-0 record. They outscored opponents in the tournament 48-6.

The Bulls offense was led by: Kyle Pitman .583 average with 7 RBI’s. Jeff King, .546 average with 7 runs scored. Andrew Swagers, .538 average with 9 runs scored and Cam McKnight .500 average.

The pitching staff of Cam McKnight, Andew Swagers, Dave Willitts, Eric Conlon, Tom Malyk and Jamie Kozak combined for 0.72 tournament ERA.

Cam McKnight was named tournament MVP with a 2-0 record and 1 unearned run in 11 innings. The versatile defensive player also played every single infield position over the course of the tournament,
