| It has been intimated to the Paisley Panthers management that the Hamilton Hawks are intent on removing the Panthers from the Charlie Mawer Cup competition.
It has to be stated, that no one team in the dyad can arbitrarily have the other removed without due contact and discussion. To this end, the Paisley Panthers have requested, in writing to the SRIHC Executive, that permission is withheld for any Charlie Mawer Cup games, that do not include the Paisley Panthers, until such time as this matter can be resolved to the satisfaction of all relevant parties! The Director of Recreational Ice Hockey has given a verbal assurance that his backing will be forthcoming.

| Sad that it has come to this, but seems very bad form for Hamilton to just chuck us with no warning because they think they might have a harder time keeping the trophy for us. I never met Charlie Mawer but I'm sure he would not be very chuffed with this lack of sportsmanship from one of his old teams.
Fair play Ronnie for taking this to the SRIHC.

| I get that we should be annoyed by this decision, but isn't the CM Cup an invitational testimonial, and held by Hamilton?
Just don't want people think we're throwing our toys out the pram.

| No Andy it is not an invitation testimonial. It is a dyad by agreement, hense our logo is engraved on the CM Cup along with Hamilton's!

| Didn't realise that - fair play then.
Didn't someone say that Hamilton are "going back" to playing Stirling for it though? Did they both used to compete for it?
Why not make it a 3 way competition?

| Why not, I'd be all for making it a four team competition, maybe even six - would make it more interesting - Big Phil already suggested that to me at the week-end.

| There's another idea. . .
Why not make it a weekend with a few extra teams, a la the Plate/Cup weekends? Would replace the Edinburgh tournament on our schedule at least.
Can't think of a better way to remember a hockey player than make a tournament out of his name and get a few beers in his honour, then a few more beers for the hell of it!!
On another topic, when's the lines going up Ronaldo?

| To answer Andy as well - Hamilton used to play Stirling for it, but Stirling went t*ts up a few years ago and we were asked to step in. The trophy was made with our logo on it. Since Stirling came back into play a couple of seasons ago, it's still been us and Hamilton. Seems a bit odd they pick this year 'all of a sudden' when they lose more than half their team to make a change back to Stirling.
