Q: We have collected sponsorship $ for our team. When we turn in sponsor money for All Stars, do we get the full amount back or does the league keep 10 %?

A: The league keeps 10% on the sponsorships over the initial $350 (We give you the complete $350 back for the umpire fees). If you decide not put the sponsorship money through the league it is very important for you to remember that your sponsors will not have a tax deduction to a 501(3)c, non-profit. When a company makes a donation to a 501(3)c they can deduct that donation from their taxes. In order to do that they will need to show that the funds were deposited into the 501(3)c account. Also remember that the 10% that the league keeps gets put right back into the league and directly benefits all who participate.

Q: Can we keep soliciting donations as long as we are playing or is there a cut off date?

A: Solicit away for those donations. league keeps 10% on the ones over the initial $350 (for the umpire fees)

Q: How should we handle fundraiser money?

A: First, this is just a recommendation and there are different variables of this. The most important part is to keep records and share those with everyone on the team. This way everything is transparent to all involved. If it's a business fundraiser I.e. Chipotle.... Then the check goes to the league and the whole team benefits..I.e. Tourney entry, equipment, etc.. If the check is cut to the team manager then they would disburse funds equally among the parents. Things like a fire works stand get funds credited to each players and the time they worked. If it's a private fundraiser for cash...I.e. Garage sale, car wash, etc...the cash goes to the team manager. Funds are "credited" to each player who worked the event or held by the team to pay for expenses like travel, hotel, etc..

Q: Why can't we play at our fields. We are all extremely upset that we have been stuck at flamingo. We have the nicest fields in town.

A: I couldn’t agree more with you, however, lets not be selfish. Is it fair to ask Henderson and Southwest to travel to Majestic every weekend? They don’t want to play at our fields, they want to play close to home. Would you rather we traded with each league and one week we drive to Pahrump, one week we drive to Henderson, one week at Flamingo and one week at Majestic? Flamingo is a central location and it fits for all of us.

Q: Why are B's playing C's and C’s playing B’s?

A: We are trying our best to give each team as many teams possible to play. Please look around, there aren’t many leagues in town thriving like there was 5 years ago. Tournament registrations are down and 8U/10U teams don’t travel from other states like we would like them to.

Q: Are we playing friendlies every weekend there is not a tournament?

A: The goal is to play as much as we can. Since we allow the coaches/teams to schedule “out of town” tourneys on their own there is no way of knowing when everyone’s available to play friendlies. Looking at the calendar I think you will be busy every weekend with maybe 1 weekend where you won’t play.

What age range participates in All-Stars? I notice they are required to collect money from the bat-a-thon if they want to participate in the selection but it doesn't state what age range or level they must be at to do so?

Hi Breanne,

2 Great Questions! The Bat-a-Thon fundraiser is a mandatory fundraiser for the entire league. Being a non-profit and Las Vegas recreation league we do everything we can to keep registration dues as low as possible. The Bat-a-Thon funds are raised by 6U thru 16/18U and these funds go directly to your league. Money raised from the snack shack, Bat-a-Thon, selling cookie dough, etc. is how we are able to provide registration fee's as low at $175.00 and still include Uniforms, field costs, lights, coaches clinics, equipment and more.

The divisions participating in All-Stars are 8U through 14U. The 6U division has the Hawaiian Jamboree. The misconception is that Bat-a-Thon pays for All-Stars and that is not the case. The girls that make the All-Star team actually pay for another season themselves, more than the usual $175.00. We do, however, require that the girls playing for Majestix All-Star team have participated in this mandatory fundraiser.

I hope this helps answer your question.
