| RULE 8, Sec 4 of ASA rulebook says: "A batter, who receives a base on balls, cannot advance past first base, If the batter-runner advances further, once the ball becomes dead, return the batter-runner to first base."
Are we playing by different rules or does this rule stand?
What about a drop strike 3? Can the batter-runner advance past first base to steal 2B/3B/Home??

| I think the key word here is "Once the ball becomes dead".
If the player gets to first base on a dropped 3rd, they may advance on an overthrow. If a player gets a walk, they may advance if the ball is live (for example, runner on 3rd, ball is not dead if the runner continues on to second).
I am not an umpire, but I believe the key is when the ball is dead.
