Bowser Shuts Down Klingensmith Insurance

The six-time champs are looking like they want to add another Mansfield Trophy to their collection. Bowser, which won six straight Daily News League titles from 2005-10, won its sixth straight game by shutting down Klingensmith Insurance, 7-1, in an early battle for first place Thursday at Clairton Park. Bowser’s Marty Needham earned the first win of his career. He allowed one run and four hits in six innings. Mark Breisinger then followed and pitched a scoreless inning for the Twins. “Very impressive,” manager Andy Brettschneider said of Needhan who he previously coached at North Catholic High School. “As long as he throws strikes and keeps the ball down, with wooden bats in this league, he will do well.” The score was tied at 1 when the Twins (6-1) surged for six runs. Kyle Lucot and Jim Onder provided big hits in the sixth, but the stars were newcomer Mike Carroll and leadoff hitter Brian Grise. Carroll and Grise each produced three hits as the Twins won again despite playing without stars Dalaine Ofchinick and Corey Rodgers. Klingensmith fell to 5-2-1.
