Strong Offense Not Enough As Terriers Fall To Core Athletics

Both teams put up a bunch of runs, but Terriers fell to Core Athletics 10-6 on Saturday.

Core Athletics captured the lead in the second inning. Core Athletics scored one run when Shane Fetsco doubled with one out in the second inning.

Core Athletics took the lead for good with seven runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Matt Swartz singled off of Nate Starcher, driving in one run, there was an error, scoring two runs, Jay Clinger singled off of Starcher, driving in one run, and Greg Yaksich homered off of Andy Fletcher, driving in three runs.

Terriers scored four runs in the fifth inning. Terriers scored on a groundout by Shawn Baker and a home run by Dalton Davis.

Corey Pullen earned the win for Core Athletics. He tossed seven innings, giving up six runs, six hits, and striking out nine. Brock Wenger took the loss for Terriers. He went three innings, surrendering two runs, six hits, and striking out one.

Ty McKinney, Sam Miller, Chad Matthus, Evan Maley, Davis, and Luke Kail all had one hit to lead Terriers.

Core Athletics collected 12 hits. Clinger, Swartz, and Yaksich each collected multiple hits for Core Athletics. Yaksich went 2-for-4 at the plate as he led the team with three runs batted in.
