Tremendous Team Effort Leads to Opening Victory
MS Baseball Opening Day
Several 7th graders made their debuts in a big way for the Middle
School baseball team on Opening Day. Luke Montgomery, Anthony
Mitchell and Logan Walter ignited a tremendous team effort en route to a 13 - 1 triumph over Jeannette kicking off the 2022 campaign.
Montgomery led the Panthers offensively going 3 for 3 at the plate
while consistently delivering in the clutch driving in three runners.
His 7th grade counterpart Mitchell also was a prominent run producer in the victory, knocking in two while scoring twice. Walter,
representing what appears to be an extremely talented 7th grade class, rivaled the M and M boys production. The speedy outfielder scored two runs, drove in two and swiped two bases while also smacking two base hits.
The 8th grade veterans of course did their part as well. Nolan
Stephany and Luca Bertucci displayed great leadership at the dish
knocking in a couple runs a piece while James Templeton, Anthony Poole and Nate Fulton dominated from the mound each throwing scoreless innings. The 7th graders also contributed to the outstanding pitching effort as Walter along with Nico Fioravanti were flawless not allowing a hit in their innings of work.
The Panther baseball squad looks to duplicate their effort today as
they host their powerful section rival Latrobe. Weather permitting,
first pitch is slated for 4:01 pm at Franklin Regional Middle School
Field.
