The Sons of Italy Lions outdoor season came to an end with a 3-2 semi-final loss to Winnipeg Croatia. The Lions opened the scoring on an own goal by Croatia, but Croatia faught back strongly, scoring two before the end of the first half. Croatia would score the first goal of the second half, but a goal by Vince Ferlaino with 10 minutes remaining gave the Lions the chance to equalize. The Lions were unable to equalize despite several late scoring chances. The Lions complete the 2003 outdoor season winning 2 of 4 championship trophies available in the Province of Manitoba. The Lions won the first ever MMSL Charity Shield title, and the 2003 MMSL League Championship.
