Blue boy March 9, 2010 3:05:47 PM Entry ID: 1766812 | La Salle is the team to beat! Their loss to Ateneo was an upset bigger than the 8.0 magnitude earthquake last week.Ateneo is overachieving while Letran is underachieving ! UP will defend their crowm in the championship against who?? Take your pick ! UST and San Beda will need some help to be considered. But at this point La Salle vs UP is looking good! |

Tulero February 9, 2010 1:57:21 PM Entry ID: 1757871 | I agree with a lot of Toreros talking points and im sure that a lot would agree that some of these players are deserving to be named in the mythical 1st team ALL LIGA LEAGUE TEAM !! Here are some who should have been included. MON for the 4/5 spot.He is tenacious in defense and a rebounding monster. He is a tremendous player and an asset to any team he plays for! NINON for the 3 spot.He could easily play the 4 spot if needed he is relentless in pushing the ball and plays tough defense .Joy for the 1 spot this guy is a baller .He understands how to play the game and plays to his strenghts .Tremendous ballhandling skills ,controls the tempo .not a consistent scorer .Looks to pass first before he shoots. A true pont guard mentality. LEO another big guard who plays with passion. this guy can jump and run with the best of them. RANDY this guy is i think the most underrated player in the league .He is a quiet and efficient . Another deserving player ,not flashy but just an effective player who can play inside and can shoot outside when needed. These guys on this list would be a serious contender for ALL STAR HONORS. Congratulations to the MAROONS FOR A WELL DESERVED CHAMPINOSHIP! |
Torero Nagpapastol ng Toro February 2, 2010 11:22:43 AM Entry ID: 1755861 | The recent championship game between UP and San Beda is still fresh. Before we discuss the new lineup for the upcoming LigaLeague Season IX, let me give you my debatable All-Ligaleague Teams. You can free to make a violent reactions to this one coz some players were snubbed, but I don't care. Make your appeal to the commisioner. All-LigaLeague 1st Team--- 1. PG - Eddie...This midget-size player is proved to be one of the vital missing piece for Bogart's team title run. He seems lead the league in assist. He created lots of opportunities for his teammates either on a fastbreak or half court plays. With his shake-and-bake moves, he can able to penetrate onto the shaded area and pass the ball to an open teammate because his guards will go towards him leaving the other UP players open for a shot. A reliable reserve player last season for San Beda and part of the teams championship title, he became a starting point guard for the newly-crowned UP Maroons and now enjoying his first LigaLeague legitimate trophy. 2. SG - John L...The Pistolero from the wild wild west carried the Maroons in several games when they needed a win. A reliable outside shooter, fearless scorer, and an awesome defender, every team wants this player on their lineup. He is the scoring champion for couple of seasons now. With the entry of their point guard and a reliable big men on his back, he became more deadly in transition offense with their run and gun style of play. Always few short of the ring in the past seasons because of weak supporting cast, his current team maximized his potential as a deadly player. A shoo-in league MVP candidate if there is such thing. 3. SF - Merrick... Originally listed as Power Forward, this player is more effective on a Shooting/Small Forward position with his reliable outside shot and dribble penetration moves. He is more effective in a one-on-one plays leaving his defender eating his dust with a simple cross-over move towards the basket. He is the leading scorer of his team and the reason why defenders are hesitant whether they guard him inside or leave him outside. A decent defender off the block and joyful to watch on a transition fastbreak. 4. PF - Arnel...His scoring average went down this season but there's no denying the fact that the Iron Chef is still the heart and soul of the UP team. He doesn't need to score that much compare to his previous teams, his mere presence is too much enough to bring chill down the spine on their opponents. He always plays on a consistent playoff contender team except for last season where he doesn't have that much help from his supporting cast. Being an offensive and defensive player, teams are dying to have him in their lineup. He's more reliable when the game is on the line where a simple pass to him on the inside would mean an automatic points or a trip to the foul line. With his kind of physical play, referees were having hard time giving him the foul favoring him or against him. He is also a consistent MVP contender eversince he was drafted in the league. 5. C - Andrew S...A center-forward type of player, he leads his team in rebounding and scoring. The Commissioner has a decent outside shot and a reliable threat inside the basket. With their previous lineup, he can play multiple positions at will especially when their opponent doesn't have a big man to control him. A perennial championship contender in the past, his team fall short this time. But no doubt, given a steady point guard and a decent shooter in his supporting cast, this player can be a regular fixture at the photo-ops ceremony carrying a trophy... The 2nd team is up for grabs... All-LigaLeague 2nd Team--- 1. PG - Nap... A decent point guard and an important piece to San Beda's reign last season. He's not an explosive player but consistently delivers assists and stability on his team. 2. SG - Edward... The heart and soul of the Red Lions. A trophy collector, this two-guard is always a part of Title-Contender teams. He is the most decorative player in LigaLeague history surpassing "The Kilabot" Mike G!!! A do-it-all player making hussle plays, smart rebounding and a good inside scorer. He doesn't need to score that much but his mere presence on the defensive end gives problem to the offensive team. 3. SF - Bogart/Vince ... A tie for this position. Both players lead their teams in terms of 3-point percentage. Both are deadly beyond the arc that's why their defenders are giving them high respect by not letting them throw an open 3s. And since this is Bogart's season, it is a mortal sin if you don't include him on this list. The man deserve to be acknowledge for his hardwork in getting his first hardware. 4. PF - Bong ... This guy can play both forward positions but like to shoot 3s when open. An outstanding inside operator because of his maskels. He needs to improve his perimeter shooting to make him a more legitimate threat inside the paint. His defense and rebounding is above average. Other than that, he's a good addition to a team that needs an inside-outside presence. 5. C - Edwin ... The Big Guy improved tremendously in terms of confidence and shot selections. He gave the UP Maroons a big scare during the first half of their championship game by outrebounding UP's big men and making putbacks underneath the basket. He now knows how to use his size but his mobility needs to improve further. His back-to-the-basket move is improving but needs to have a perimeter game to earn more respect from opponents. M.V.R (Most Valuable Reserve)... Without a doubt, Joel Villanueva deserved the credit. UP team became deadlier when someone from their original lineup is missing because of this guy. With a good outside shots and reliable defending, he added new dimension to the UP's brand of play. Whoever team drafted this player have the reason to be excited because of the added firepower he will contribute. For any comments or violent reactions, please bring your mother with plastic cover! Until then... Signing out, Torero |
