Board Makes Rule Changes 2/25/05
February 25, 2005
The AAL Board of Directors met last night to consider the upcoming Summer Tournament and review regulations and procedures. 8 out of the 11 members of the Board convened a strong quorum accompanied by 5 of the 9-team captains. The following issues were decided upon.
1. The field will remain Kendall Soccer Park for the summer tournament. The Board expressed the desire to play on natural grass in future.
2. The number of teams will remain the same.
3. The start date of March 6 was confirmed.
4. Players on the field will remain 8.
5. Roster size was increased from 14 to 15.
6. Number of O-35 players remains 3 per team.
7. New players must pay the full $40 fee to be eligible to play.
8. The posted, 20 week schedule was approved. This involves one group of nine teams that play each other twice and have two byes each over the 20 weeks.
9. The Board re-affirmed the requirement for each team to either set-up or take down one goal depending on the time of their game. A proposal to remove one point from the standings for failure to perform this work was deferred to next meeting.
10. Photo Player cards will be mandatory this next season.
11. The Board mandated that there be more referee rotation to insure fairness.
12. Rough Play will not be tolerated. Three (3) yellow cards collected at any time over the season will result in a one game suspension that will carry over into the playoffs but not into the next season.
13. The captain of the affected team has the responsibility of enforcing this rule. Failure to do so will result in the team forfeiting the game.
14. Members were reminded of the importance of proper behavior in County Parks. Smoking and drinking of alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited. Players are to use the public restrooms.
