Old Business Presented by: Kery Swope

  • Summer Program
    Not going to be doing All-Stars, we will focus on All-Players with our summer pick-up games.  
    Meghan Thoerig will create a sign-up genius for coaches/parents willing to coach for safety.   Let the kids pick teams, create batting order.  All for fun, “coaches” to ensure the teams are evenly distributed.  Play on the team where you will be in the fall. 

  • Concessions for the summer games?   Cooler for drinks? 

  • Does the insurance still cover for the All-Players?  

  • Waiver for the players to sign for each game per game? 

  • Background checks? 

  • Catchers-DO need to wear the gear.  

Dillion:  10u softball
Sam:  12u softball

  • Closing Ceremonies- starts at 2pm on Saturday; the Closing Ceremony committee is working hard

  • Hit-a-Thon- Needs coach encouragement,
    $5 per player to participate; there will be a time limit

  • Raffle Baskets that were created by the teams will be at closing ceremonies

  • Concessions will NOT be open

  • Food trucks will be available;  if needed SLS will purchase pizzas to sell by the slice

  • Looking for Fire Police to handle parking at Closing Ceremonies

  • Cash Raffle:   Tickets need to be in Stephanie’s hand by Friday so she can enter it into the system before Closing Ceremonies

 

 

New Business Presented by: Kery Swope

  • End of Year Survey:  will be as an anonymous google form

  • Appointment of Secretary: Meghan Thoerig will fill out term (until Sept 30)

  • Fall Ball:  Play in the division you will play in the Spring;  $50/player; potential for Family Discounts; sponsors- fall ball only don’t get a banner @ $400, Tball was less, maybe $20, and they didn’t get uniforms, Jon Snyder will be doing the Fall ball scheduling- no umpires Majors/Minors

  • Fall Ball:  Start practices week of August 19; Games start September; 

  • Concession stand fall ball:  $75/per player opt-out or work 1 session per player and you get your check back.

  • 2 practices/1 game per week   OR  2 games/1 practice per week   2 hours each but usually only stayed for 90 minutes.

  • Coaches- League Line Up

  • Concession Stand at Smithsburg Carnival:  

  • June 25 (firework night) 

  • June 26 5pm-10pm
    is SLS responsibility
    Meghan will make/update the Sign-Up genius  2 hour (4 per hour)
    Fall Ball Registration with QR code at the stand; Deadline on July 31st

  • New uniform company; faster than BJs  (‘Nationals’ company)
    Possible reversible/button up for the older teams (home/away)

  • Upcoming Expenses

Just under 2,000 profit

Concession stand: just under 7,000 profit

Community Center Insurance:  $1200/year

Renting out community center:  3 ppl looking at renting which should cover the insurance

Current Objectives Presented by: Kery Swope

  •  Money in the budget:  

  • ABE:  rebuild the mound;  fix the inside lip; level the infield; the outfield lip needs fixed as well; don’t use a tractor @ 1st and 3rd, it needs to be raked; lines need to be measured as well; special dirt-talk to Waynesboro; Friday the 21st 6pm-9pm; bleachers painted; tball fence needs repaired-purchase new rail (Brian); fire inspection @ Abe Williams; freezer @ Abe doesn’t work, slip proof mats need replaced; fryer is leaking oil; roof @ Abe concession stand;

    Mold @ Callas concession; drainage @ Callas is AWFUL; bathroom situation @ Callas; smaller trash cans @ Callas to reduce the wasted trash bags.

  • Gaming Commission Grant- Kery will attend mgt to request grant

  • Tarps for the dirt pits at both fields;  tarps for Callas’ field

  •  Tball field:  trees $250 to dead wood the walnut

  •  Softball: We need to present better to recruit better;  Possible Blue Crabs travel Softball;  0ffer Summer camps 2025; T-ball softball; 

  •  Fall ball flyers
