The Blue Chip Collegiate Baseball League (BCCBL) Rules & Regulations - Summer 2024 (Updated 6/5/24)

The collegiate wooden bat League will follow the NCAA Baseball rule book with some exceptions.  The BCCBL will consist of 14 teams playing in one Division.  The regular season will begin on June 8th and continue through July 24th.  Each team will play approximately 26 League games prior to playoffs.  

All players participating in the BCCBL must have college baseball eligibility prior to the summer.  High school seniors who have signed a letter of intent are also eligible to play in the League.

2024 Rules:

Rule 1:  All players participating in the BCCBL must be on a college baseball roster prior to the summer.  High school seniors who have signed a letter of intent are also eligible to play in the League.

Rule 2:  All players must use wood or composite wood bats (crank handle and bamboo bats are not allowed).

Rule 3:  All players entering the field must be in full uniform.  Coaches and Team personnel entering the field are required to wear a Team hat and a Team jersey, Team BP top, Team fleece, or Team sweatshirt. 

Rule 4:  NO METAL SPIKES ARE TO BE WORN ON ANY TURF FIELDS (ADELPHI UNIVERSITY, CANTIAGUE B, EISENHOWER A, STONY BROOK U, LASORDA PARK, AND MITCHEL FIELD).  

Rule 5:  A coin flip will determine the home team for single games scheduled.  For double headers, home team will be split.

Rule 6:  Teams will split baseballs (low seam) for games. 

Rule 7:  Teams will have the option to use a Designated Hitter in the line-up.

Rule 8:  Teams will have the option to use an Extra Hitter in the line-up.

Rule 9:  Teams will have the option to use a Courtesy Runner for the catcher and pitcher.  The courtesy runner will be the "last batted out".

Rule 10:  Official Game-  A game is official after 4 innings.  If the two teams have played four innings and then the game must be stopped because of weather, the game is considered official.

Rule 11:  Mercy Rule-  10 runs after 5 innings.  Teams must have equal at-bats through five innings.

Rule 12:  Time Limit Rules-

              There will be a two hour time limit on all games with following games scheduled.  No new inning may begin after two hours from the start of the game.  The start time of a game begins after the umpires and coaches meet.

Rule 13:  Mound visits-  A pitcher must be removed on the second mound visit in an inning.

Rule 14:  Pickoffs- The fake to third, throw to first move is illegal in the BCCBL.

Rule 15:  Ejections- Any ejection of a player will result in a one game suspension.  The suspension will be served on the team's next game played.  The disciplinary committee will consist of Eric Weiner, Jim Clark, and Gregg Sarra.

Rule 16:  League point system- Win=3, Tie=2, Loss=1

Rule 17:  Website-  All coaches must enter team statistics on the BCCBL website by the end of the week.

Rule 18:  Player of the Week- All nominations must be submitted to Eric Weiner by Monday at noon.  A player will only be considered if the Team's statistics is up-to-date on the BCCBL website.

Rule 19:  Playoffs-  All 14 teams will qualify for the playoffs.  The playoffs will be a single elimination format.
