Organization Mission & Goals
TNLI operates as an elite softball organization, providing a highly competitive travel softball program for players to become champions.
Our goal is to provide an environment for players to develop and grow both on and off the softball field. Player development will focus on making each player the best athlete that they can be while also understanding and learning some life lessons through the game of softball.
The coaches and staff of TNLI are committed to providing each player with the time and effort required of a world class fastpitch organization. Each player will be treated with the utmost respect and time taken to ensure the best possible environment for a player reach their maximum potential.
Organization Background & History
The 2009/2010 season was the inarguable season for the TNLI organization, after deciding to change it names from after two season prior being called the LI Rockets. TNLI kicked off in the Fall of 2009 with 1 team (Team 96) as a first year 14U division team. In the Spring of 2010, we added a second team (Team 98) as a first year 12U division team.
Both of teams were being Managed by Anthony Casalino, the founder of TNLI and Executive Board Member of the Half Hollow Hills Little League in Dix Hills, LI NY. HHHLL Softball has established itself as one LI premier Little League Softball programs by consistently winning their District Championship and competing at both the Sectional and NY State Championships.
For the 2010/2011 season, Team 98 came together nicely with girls made up primarily from the western Suffolk county area (Dix Hills, Deer Park, the Commack’s, the Babylon’s and the Islip townships).
Team 96 challenged themselves by playing an extremely aggressive schedule and competed against teams who were primarily older than them. Of the 12 tournaments entered throughout the year, 4 of them were at the 16U level, a level higher than their default division.
For the 2011/2012 season, Team 99 was added under the direction of Mike Glaser to compete at the 12U level. Mike comes to TNLI from the St Hugh’s Saints where he coached the travel ball team for a number of seasons. He brings a great attitude and enthusiasm that is contagious amongst the girls.
Team 98 played an aggressive 14U travel tournament schedule in and around the greater metro NY area.
Team 96 played a competitive 16U schedule in the Fall of 2011 and after taking three 1st Place, one 2nd Place and one 3rd Place, it was determined to play a more aggressive 18U schedule come the Summer 2012.
To this end, Coaches John Montefusco and Bob Cozzetto joined the organization to coach this new 18U Elite team. Tryouts were held over the Winter to add some additional 18U talent and the team embarked on a weekly winter training program to prepare themselves compete at an 18U College Showcase level.
Team 18U Elite played an aggressive Showcase and Tournament schedule and the coaches were successful in getting the only graduating senior Kim Nowak a full scholarship with St Thomas Aquinas.
Team 98 played a 10 tournament schedule and took 1st place in the LI Waves Summer Inviational as well as several 2nd place finishes.
Team 99 played in 6 tournaments throughout the year and finished in 2nd place in all but one of them. They capped the year with a trip to the USSSA Nationals in Orlando Florida.
For the 2012-13 season, tryouts were held and players added for all three teams (18U, 98 and 99). In addition we added a newly formed 12U team (Team 2001). The response for the 12U was so overwhelming that a second team (Team 2000) was also formed.
The 2012-13 season witnessed tremendous success for all teams. Three of the 5 (18U, 98 and 2000) all attended National type tournaments. Team 18U and 98 participated in the USSSA World Series in Ocean City, Md and the 2000 team played in the Pony Nationals in Newtown PA. All three had extremely successful runs with 13th place finishes for 18U and Team 98 and a 17th place finish for Team 2000.
For the 2013-14 season once again the organization has enjoyed a very successful tryout campaign. Very talented players have been added to all tournament teams from 18U on down through 12U. In addition, two newly formed team (Team 02 and Team 12U) were added as 12U teams. Team 02 was a high end travel ball team winning some of the most competitive in the greater NY area while 12U was made up of players looking to take their game to the travel ball level.
In the 2014-15 season, Team 03 was added as a first year 12U and Team 04 as a 10U. were added at the 12U level bring the number of teams in the org to
Organization Reputation and Integrity
TNLI strives to maintain the highest level of organization reputation and Integrity. This is of the utmost importance since we are asking you as parents to place your trust in allowing us to coach your daughter. To this end we have developed a set of Code of Conducts for all Coaches, Staff, Parents and Players to abide by.
In addition, the organization has developed a Social Media and Electronic Communication policy that helps Coaches, Parents and Players understand guidelines in using them. TNLI understands that Social Media is a huge part of our daily lives and this policy will help guide all in the does and don't of Social Media. It is extremely important that we make sure we leverage these electronic tools for the betterment of individuals and the Team Nitro organization. Any negative of detrimental use of these tools must be avoided at all costs.
The Coaches and Staff of TNLI are also required to sign a Coaches Code of Conduct form that outlines what is expected of them and their behavior around the team as well as acting as an agent of TNLI. Every Coach is subject to a complete background check for both criminal and sexual offender offenses. Any confirmed infractions will immediately disqualify that Coach or Staff member from continuing their role in the organization.
