MASON Youth Basketball (MYB)

MYB is a non-profit organization that sponsors recreational and competitive basketball teams for boys in girls in grades 1st through 12th. All student participants must reside within the Mason School district or attend Mason Public Schools (exceptions must be approved by the MYB Board). MYB is operated by a Board of Trustees made up of volunteers. The program is currently operating in partnership with the Mason Community Center to provide an opportunity for all youth in Mason.

History

MYB was formed in the spring of 1995. Following the winter 1994-1995 basketball season, parents whose student athletes were involved in separate athletic and recreational organizations (girls), teamed up and spent three months (often two or three nights a week) laying the foundation for what is today the largest and most respected youth basketball organization in Mason.

The first year's membership included 4th through 6th grade girls and 8th grade boys numbering around 100. In 2004, MYB formed a partnership with the Mason Community Center to continue to provide basketball opportunities for Mason's youth. At that time, the offerings expanded to include additional grade levels and more boys' teams.

Currently MYB supports both girls' and boys' teams in grades 1st through 12th grade. Through the 2021-22 season, the student membership had grown to over 1,300 players.
