MYB will participate in the following leagues / divisions (age groups):

INSTRUCTIONAL LEAGUE

Boys and Girls Instructional (grades 1 - 2):

This is typically an in-house league using 8 ft or 9 ft rims where Mason teams play other Mason teams only.  No score or standings are kept.  Guidelines for this league may be found in the Handouts section of this website.  Note that instructional teams may play in an outside league if participation numbers don't allow enough teams for an in house league (minimum of 32 players needed for 4 teams of 8).

RECREATIONAL LEAGUE

Boys and Girls (3rd grade):

This is typically an in-house league using 9 ft or 10 ft rims where Mason teams play other Mason teams only.  Scores and standings are kept.  Note that these teams may play in an outside league if participation numbers don't allow enough teams for an in house league (minimum of 32 players needed for 4 teams of 8).

Boys and Girls (4th grade - 12th grade):

Our older MYB teams will play in the Cincinnati Premier Youth Basketball League  (CPYBL).  CPYBL is a league made up of teams from all parts of Cincinnati and offers both recreational and athletic (select) play. CPYBL is committed to bringing a positive league experience to all of its members. They are a progressive league that is always looking to improve their operations based on the suggestions of its active membership. For more information, please visit the CPYBL website at www.cpybl.com. Teams will practice one time per week and play a 10 game season. Teams are grouped by ability level with other teams from participating organizations.

MASON RISING

Boys and Girls (4th grade - 6th grade)

These teams will be formed by tryouts (Mason high school coaches run the tryouts) during late September each year. They will practice twice per week and typically play a 20 game season, as well as have the option of playing in a preseason tournament. Many communities refer to these teams as their “select” teams. In addition to the registration fee, there will be an additional fee to cover additional games for refs, scorekeepers, tournaments, potential uniform upgrades and additions to the uniform not covered by the base registration fee. The head coach will collect this directly from the parents.

By making and accepting a spot on an athletic team, this will be your “primary” team for the winter season. If you play on a second team, you are required to prioritize the Mason team if a conflict with games or practices arise with the second team. Frequently missing games or practices will be considered for tryouts the following years

These teams will play in the Cincinnati Premier Youth Basketball League (CPYBL)
