Rico Chiapparelli
High School: Mount Saint Joseph / Blair Academy
College: Iowa
Rico was the most accomplished Wrestler in the programs history, and is recognized as one of the Top 3 Wrestlers in Maryland History.

Kirk Salvo
College: Brown
Kirk is recognized as one of the greatest high school lightweights in Md History and is listed on the All-Time Md Team.
Kirk has also made a name as a coach reviving the Johns Hopkins University Program from 1999-2005. And will return to his alma mater Mt.St.Joe to take over the "Greatest High School Program is Maryland" as of 2005.
2006 Mt. St. Joe under Coach Salvo broke the MIAA Record by recording 8 Champions at the League Championships out of 14 weight classes and believe it or not the TEAM Finished 2nd!

Albert Miller
Coach Miller was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2004 for Lifetime Achievement.
And inducted into the Baltimore County Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1990.
His Wrestlers include: Rick Baughman, Doug Yoakum, Tom Boushell, Tim Allender, Jason Moore, Mike Sullivan, Ned Franks, Steve Amenta, Steve Booth, Jim Clark, Ron Miles, Don Pittillo and Gibbs Johnson who are all Members of the Perry Hall Wrestling Hall of Fame.
John Melka
John Was the First Perry Hall High School Wrestler to Win the Maryland State Championships in 1972.
He was the first of a line of great wrestlers from Perry Hall.
Rick Baughman
College: Drexel
Rick was the First Perry Hall High School Wrestler to Place in 3 Maryland State Tournaments. Where he finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd and become only the Second To Win the State Championship in 1980.
Rick college career was cut short due to an elbow injury suffered in his freshman season where Rick was Nationally ranked before the injury. Rick is one of the Only men in history to take the Great John Smith to Overtime during a match while both were in High School.
Rick was Perry Hall Jr. League Coach from 1986-1992 where he produced some great wrestlers and gave back to the program.

Tom Boushell
College: United States Air Force Academy
Tom was one of the best techinical wrestlers in Maryland History where he completed an undefeated senior year by winning Perry Hall's 4th High School State Championship only allowing 5 Points the entire season in 1989.
Tom's most impressive feat was at the Senior All-Star Meet where he beat 2x Beall State Champion (Davis) 15-0 in 3:45 and MSJ State Champion (Welch) 15-0 in 3:00 with 4 Leg Cradles in 1989. Both Wrestlers left the Mat in Shock.
Tom went on to the United States Airforce Academy and is currently a "Rocket Scientist for NASA"

Mike was one of the toughest wrestlers to ever step on the Mat
he once beat Hall of Famer Bill Royer after breaking his arm during a match.
Mike has been affiliated with MSWA as the Youth Program Director since 2002 and still competes occasionally. Mike has organized and coached the Maryland Youth Mason-Dixon Team that competes in an Annual Quad meet vs The New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia All Stars!

Louis was Maybe the Best High School Wrestler ever from the State of Maryland. He was virtually unbeatable during his high school career. Winning National Prep, MSA, Sr. Nationals and the Dapper Dan Classic during his Senior Year.

Doug was captain of the only Perry Hall team to win Back to Back County Championships with ( 2 ) Undefeated Dual Meet Seasons. A BCPS Individual Champion, HS State Semi-Finalist and Md/Va State Champ.
Doug has been the Perry Hall Jr. League Coach/Chairman since 1998 where his teams have managed to Place among the States Top 10 in 4 Consecutive season while compiling an 89% Winning Percentage. His wrestlers have placed in over 50 National Events to date.
MWOA Member 1999-2004 as MPSSAA Certified Official, MJWL President for 6 Terms, MJWL Executive Board Member for over 20 years, and Board Member of the Md Junior League State Tournament Committee, MSWA Kids Director,

Mr. (Gerry) Chiapparelli
Mr. Chiapparelli the father of Lou and Rico was a long time Coach at Perry Hall High School coaching Football and Wrestling during the 1970's and early 80's. His influence is still prevelant today among the atheletes he touched during his tenure. He was one of the founding fathers of the Perry Hall Junior League.
Mr. Chip also played Football at Alabama for the Great Bear Bryant.
The long time Perry Hall Resident and supporter is also a member of the Perry Hall High School Atheletic Hall of Fame
John Stratemeyer
Mr. Stratemeyer was the First from Perry Hall to Serve as Maryland Junior League President from 1984-1988.
Steve Amenta

Steve was another "Natural" wrestler who managed to Place 2nd at the Maryland State Championships in only his 3rd Season.
Steve was Asst. Jr. League Coach from 1998-2002 at Perry Hall.

Jim Vandaniker

Jim is one of the most successful wrestlers out of Perry Hall from the last 20 years. Currently a member of the John's Hopkins University Team where he earned Academic All-America Honors in 2005.

Jason Moore
Jason was one of the most arrogant wrestlers in the History of Sports. But his results backed up his favorite saying that it's not bragging if you can back it up.
Jason was a member of the Back to Back Perry Hall County Championships in 89-90. While earning all-metro honors in Football, Baseball and Wrestling it was wrestling that gave you the stage to stand up and express yourself.

Chris managed to become one of the few Gators to place at the Maryland State Championships 3 Times.

High School: Perry Hall
Tim became only the 3rd Wrestler in Perry Hall High School History to win the Maryland State Tourament, amazingly he did it from the last seeded position after taking 4th at regionals.
since High School Tim has had many stints at coaching with the Middle River, Edgewood and Bel Air Jr Leagues and With Dundalk and CM Wright High Schools. Tim is also a member of the Maryland Wrestling Officials Association.

Don Pittillo
Don was a 2x Baltimore County Champion during his High School career and qualified for the State Tournament 3 Times.
Don has continued with sports by coaching the PHRC football program for the last 12 years.

Jim was an average high school wrestler, But turned into a very good Jr. League Coach he ran the PH program from 1986-1994 developing some of the Perry Hall Greats like:
Doug Yoakum, Steve Amenta, Chad Votta, Chris King, Sean King, Paul Scott, Brian Yoakum, Doug Clark, Rich Hanzevack and Nick Cortalis.

Ned was one of the driving forces of the Mid 80's Perry Hall Squads.
His most impressive feat was at the Baltimore County Tournament his senior year, Ned jumped up a weight class and dismantled 2x State Champion Derrick Asbel in the Finals.

Mike Sullivan
After starting his career at St.Joe, Mike returned to Perry Hall to reach his goals winning 2 Baltimore County Titles and becoming State Runner-Up.
Mike has been a Member of the Maryland Wrestling Officials Association for the last decade.

Pete Bruno
He was the first wrestler to win the Md/Va State tournament 4 Years in a row.
Unforturnately he never wrestled high school or college and his full potential will remain a mystery.

Chris began his career in the Perry Hall Junior league and had stays at Golden Ring and Arden before finishing his high school career at Eastern Tech.

Glen Heinbuch
Glen wrestled for the Perry Hall Junior league and Perry Hall high school during his career, His greatest accomplishment however was not in wrestling, but in coaching as he has successfully revived the long Struggling Parkville recreation program into MJWL Division Champions in 2005.

Kyle England
Kyle was the first real successful wrestler to be produced under coach Yoakum. Kyle won the (1st) Perry Hall Junior Outstanding Wrestler Award under Coach Yoakum. Kyle managed numerous accomplishments under Coach Doug including (3) Tournament Titles, (3) Md/Va State Tournament Placings, and (3) MJWL Regional Placings and held the All-Time Perry Hall Junior League Wins Title upon his last season in the junior leagues.

Brian has been on again off again over the last few years trying to get involved in the coaching end of things while his son is a current member of the Punisher Wrestling Club.
Brian is one of those wrestlers that through many years of experience worked his way through the early stages and took alot of lumps to get to the top of the junior league system and then repeated the process in high school.....

Nick Bonincontri was one of the Toughest Kids I've ever seen let alone coached........He Broke his finger one year in the first round of the MJWL Tournament against the eventual champion in a match he lost by 2 points then went on to win 5 straight matches to FINISH in 3RD PLACE and qualified for STATES.
Currently Nick is Giving back to the program in which he started as ASSISTANT COACH of TEAM PUNISHER.

Joe Foster
Joe was a pleasant surpise and a kid who really stuck it out through the early beginnings and through long time dedication and hard work has become one of the most accomplished wrestlers in Perry Hall history.
Joe was the FIRST wrestler too win an individual match in my coaching career and I can still remember the excitement of his 5-4 win against Westminister at the season opening Quad meet at Hereford, If I remember right it was the 75# weight class.............a beginning of what would become a great career!
Joe went on the Place MD/VA 3x along with a STATE Title And Outstanding Wrestler award and the then 3x Place Winner at the HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL!

Nik was a stellar wrestler and performer, the holder of Many PH records and accomplishments.........He is our only 3x Wrestler of the Year Winner. Had he gone on to college he certainly would have been one of the nations top wrestlers. He has many head to head wins vs over a dozen Division 1 wrestlers.
In his junior league and high school and open career he won over 50 individual tournaments including National events.
He rose to the top in the most demanding situations!

Recently Discovered Information Dates the Perry Hall Junior League Wrestling Team back to perhaps 1970? Records of all those teams are of course not available or very hard to obtain.
However, Recent information has confirmed:
That Robert Downs was the First PERRY HALL JUNIOR LEAGUE STATE CHAMPION IN 1972.
After Wrestling Robert joined the Airforce and Has traveled the world and now resides in the UNITED KINGDOM.
Justin Klarman
Justin was one of my original wrestlers from the first season I took over the team, Justin became one of our most accomplished wrestlers through out his career and was by far the best i've ever seen from the nuetral position.
Unfortunately Justin only wrestler 80% of his freshman season and never reached his full potential.

Mr. Willie Rau
Mr. Rau (Willie) to most of us was the PH Wrestling Chairman during the Late 70's who was the figurehead during the hayday when Bill Blye coached such greats as Rico and Louie Chiapperelli, Rick Baughman, Mike Clemens, Kirk Salvo, David Rau among others. He was a long time Board Member for the Perry Hall Recreation Council and served as equipment manager, as an umpire and coach of other sports. Willie passed away on 1/5/11 and will be sorely missed.
"Willie was a true ambassador to our sport. He will be missed by tons of athletes. He was an integral part of athletics in the Perry Hall area."
Clem (Mike Clemens)
Robin Paguia
Robin was an outstanding talent both on the wrestling mat and the football field as well as the classroom, Robin perhaps is as close to a natural as you can get. Wrestling came to Robin right away as in his first season where he realed off a still standing record of 35 wins on his way to placing 6th at the state tournament and continued throughout his career.
Robin accumulated 131 wins in his junior league career placing at the state tournament 4 times and twice becoming an MJWL Runner-Up he was an MJWL all-star during his last season in junior league. Robin went on to Perry Hall high school where he started all 4 years and became a member of the 100 Win club winning 108 matches during his high school career that saw him twice make the finals of the Baltimore County and Regional Championships and winning one title of each along the way. Robin finished 5th at the STATE Championships his senior year capping a very successful career.
Robin also was a 3x letterman in football and aquired 7 varsity letters during his high school days.

Patrick Downey

Patrick wrestled for us for only (1) season after his previous team Golden Ring Folded during the mid 00's, Patrick got his basic skills while at golden ring wrestling on their powerhouse teams as mainly a back up and role wrestler, during the single season Patrick wrestled for us he dominated the State of Maryland winning the Hawks Invitational and MJWL Championships while not allowing a single point, Pat wrestled all his dual meets at 2 or 3 weight classes above without complaint and dominated, Patrick in my opinion was one of the most mentally tough kids I've ever seen.
On the High School level Patrick won 80 conscecutive matches while WINNING two STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS then went on the WIN THE NHSCA SENIOR NATIONALS AND USA JUNIOR NATIONALS during 2011 after missing his SENIOR SEASON. A feat that has never been done by a maryland wrestler.
Patrick will be moving on the NCAA ranks and should continue his success.

Shaun Murphy

The 50th Member inducted into our hall of fame is also One of the Greatest wrestlers to ever come through Perry Hall, the list of Shaun's individual accomplishments equal the accomplishments that many teams out their have....he started wrestling on the age/weight circuit as a 6 year old where he won (2) MJWL Age/Weight Championships before moving up to the A team level where he won 3 MJWL CHAMPIONSHIPS and 2 STATE TITLES before high school.
In high school Shaun placed at 4a/3a States (3) times, won 4 Baltimore County and 4 Regional titles on his way to breaking the PH ALL TIME WINS RECORD.
In junior league he went 2 1/2 seasons without losing a match against a maryland wrestler a record 96 wins in a row a feat that would be hard if not impossible to ever duplicate.

Matt Green
High School: Perry Hall
Matt began his wrestling career at Golden Ring Junior League and continued through the junior league ranks at Parkville while building his base as a heavier but younger kid until he got to High school where he developed into one of the STATE'S all-time best HEAVYWEIGHTS.

Matt started his wrestling career at a late age but that didn't stop him from making an immediate impact at the Junior League elite level. In only two seasons with us Matt accumulated 63 wins and placed at many of the states top tournaments, He was a 2x MSWA State Place winner and a 1x MD JR LEAGUE STATE PLACE WINNER, a 2x MJWL PLACE WINNER including a RUNNER-UP Finish and was awarded the Very Prestigeous Thomas Shaffenacker Award (the only time a Perry Hall Wrestler has won the award). His on the Mat and in the classroom accomplishments allowed him to earn his way into Calvert Hall where he continued his success winning the Parkville tournament twice and the Damascus Tournament twice along with placing at the MIAA 3x and at the PRIVATE SCHOOL States twice.

Zeke Salvo
High School: Perry Hall / MSJ
College: Brown
Zeke starting wrestling at Perry Hall Junior League and made much of his Jr Career with the Fallston program where he was a multiple time Jr league State Place winner.
Zeke wrestled at Perry Hall High School in the 9th and 10th grade where he finished 3rd and 1st in the 4A/3A State Championships and then transferred to Mount Saint Joseph for Academic Reasons where finished 2nd and 1st in the PRIVATE SCHOOL (MIS) State Championships.
Currently Zeke is Wrestling at BROWN UNIVERSITY.

Accomplishments:
Camryn Started in the Parkville Junior League, Before Wrestling his final two junior league seasons as a Punisher after the Demise of the Parkville team where he developed into a state caliber wrestler. Often battling injury, Camryn still managed to put together a solid junior and high school career.

Tyler Klein
High School: Perry Hall / Curley
Tyler had one of the most successful Jr. League Careers in our program over the last 20 years, Placing at the MSWA Age/Weight States 3x (6/5/4) and JLS Straight Weight States 2x (6/3) also taking 3rd in MJWL back to back years while accumulating 188 career wins (which at the time he entered High School was the #3 all-time). A severe shoulder injury shortened what surely would have been a spectacular HS career but despite the injury which Tyler battled through for most of 3 HS seasons he did manage finish with a career winning record and placed at several HS tournaments including the Parkville, Overlea and Baltimore County Championships. Tyler also was a 4 year letter winner in Lacrosse.

Marquis only wrestled 1 season of junior league but managed to win 21 matches and place 3rd at the Manchester tournament as a rookie, which was a sign of things to come later on.
Marquis sat out of wrestling his Freshman year of HS but over his next 3 seasons won over 100 HS matches and placed in numerous tournaments including the MPSSAA State tournament and Baltimore County and Regional Championships

William was one of our ALL TIME Greats, When he was done Junior League he was the ALL TIME Program Wins leader had won an MDWAY state title, Was a multiple time MJWL Finalist and MD/VA - JLS State place finisher he led the team in wins multiple years and was our OUTSTANDING Wrestler a record 5x. He also won the Thomas B. Shaffenacker award from the MJWL.
At Gilman william continued his success becoming a 4x MIS place winner and multiple time National Prep Qualifier due to losing his Junior season to COVID-19 he just missed reaching the 100 win milestone in HS.

Bradley Lintz

Bradley was a battler for us who continued to improve each year he ended up a 2x MJWL Finalist and recorded over 200 wins as a member of the program. In HS he was a 3x MIS Place winner a 3x MIAA place winner. He like many others just missed the 100 win milestone for HS because of missing his junior year due to COVID-19. Bradley also was a very successful GRECO wrestler at the State Level and did well at some of the USAW Regional events.

Cruz Cespedes
High School - North Harford
Cruz was a key part to the Program in Junior league massing over 200 JL wins capturing an MJWL Championship and Several MD State Place Finishes prior to the beginning of his high school career his family moved to Harford county where he continued his winning ways at North Harford HS. Cruz had a background in JuJitsu prior to wrestling which gave him some solid body awareness as he perfected an old time move named after Rico Chiapperelli another PH legend of the past. The move called the "RICO ROLL" is a show stopper and if you ever saw anyone get caught in it you knew the match was seconds from being over.

Rachael Wheatley

Rachael began wrestling as a JUNIOR in high school and took to the sport right away, she worked and eventually earned a spot on the BOYS VARSITY Dual meet lineup and was a big part of the teams success the two seasons she was part of the program. In 2 short seasons she went 25-18 vs Varsity Boys and an outstanding 19-4 record vs FEMALES.......Rachael also played varsity field hockey and earned a full academic scholarship to STEVENSON who unfortunately doesn't have a wrestling program. But some of the lessons learned from wrestling will hopefully help her in life.

Tanner had a steady and successful career from Junior League on through High School as a PHRC wrestlers he was a 2x MJWL Tournament Runner-Up and 1x MJWL Champion and MSWA STATE Tournmament Finalist. At the HS level he continued having success becoming a 3x BCPS Finalist and as a senior placed 4th at the MPSSAA state tournament recording 99 wins at the HS level.

Connor Chattin
High School - Perry Hall
Connor began wrestling in 10th grade and what he accomplished in 3 season is just about unheard of, A natural to the sport who leveled up seemingly each match.
As a Sophomore he posted a "WINNING Varsity Record" which was pretty impressive but only the beginning, during his Junior year he recorded almost 40 wins on his way to a Regional Silver medal and Placing 6th at the MPSSAA state championships, During his senior season which had some injury issues he really stepped up on his way to a 36-4 season winning the BCPS Championship and 3rd place at the MPSSAA State Championships finishing his HS career with 97 wins in 3 seasons.
