Scoopers Information

"Scoopers" is a low key fun activity for young (pre-k to k) players to have some fun with a lacrosse stick while getting in some physical activity and play with their peers.

Scoopers will meet every Sunday in the Spring at 1pm at our field at GT Community Park (directions here ) unless you are notified otherwise by the coach.

For participation in the scoopers program a US Lacrosse membership is required. A US Lacrosse membership can be obtained hereIt costs $25 and any youth lacrosse league or camp is going to need it so keep it handy.

Each child will require a lacrosse stick. Dicks, Sports Authority and Lacrosse Unlimited sells sticks for around $40. Sticks can be cut down to 36". 36" (from the top of the head to the bottom of the pole) is an ideal length for this age group.

Scoopers:

This level will cover basic drills and practice to help beginners aged 4, 5, and 6 to learn the fundamentals of the game. Just bring a stick and wear cleats or sneakers.  This will just be drills and they will be using a training ball instead of a real lacrosse ball.

Volunteers:
The more helpers we have at this age level the better. If you do not have experience playing or coaching, we will make sure you are put in groups with coaches that have experience. Please let us know if you're interested by emailing us at  gloucestertownshiplax@gmail.com Please put "scoopers" in the subject line.

Supervision:
In the interest of creating a very safe environment, we will need a parent/guardian/nanny/grandparent or another parent responsible for your child's stay at the field during these clinics; older siblings don't count. With such a large group and Lacrosse games taking place our field can be a very busy place on Sunday. Dropping off your child isn't an option.

Lastly…GT Community Park could quite possibly be the windiest field in NJ, so whatever it feels like outside your house, knock off 10 degrees and that’s what it will feel like at the field!! So please dress appropriately or have an extra layer in the car if needed.
