CLICK HERE TO PRE-REGISTER (available at the end of March)
MLB spring training is underway and we are three months away from the official start of the 2018 baseball season!!!
Our local umpire clinic is scheduled for May 12th at Sackville High. Registration begins at 8:30am. If you are unable to make this clinic you are free to attend any of the other HRM clinics listed in the link below. All new umpires are considered Level 1 and need to register for a Level 1 only or Level 1&2 clinic.
For all level 2 umpires it is recommend that you attend the April 22nd clinic at Bicentennial High School on Victoria Rd in Dartmouth. Level 3 and up must attend the Super Clinic weekend Apr 27-29 at Bicentennial High School in Dartmouth.
Note to all parents – During the Super Clinic weekend at Bicentennial High School (April 28-29th ) Pro-Image will be there offering umpire apparel at reduced pricing. They do offer an affordable starter package on this particular weekend so I do encourage all new umpires to drop in. This is far easier to do in person (sizing) rather than ordering online and you also avoid any backlog Pro-Image may experience in mailing out orders. Last season a few of our new umpires missed assignment opportunities while they were left waiting for their clothing to arrive via mail so this is the way to be sure you’re ready to go by June 1st!
YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER!!! Pre-registration will be made available on the BNSUD site at the end of March. Should you have any further questions email whitford@eastlink.ca or contact BNSUD registrar Chris Solarski at c.ski61@hotmail.com
LEVEL 1 AND 2 CLINIC REGISTRATION - 8:30AM - CLINICS BEGIN AT 9:00AM AND RUN UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 4:00PM - ALL NEW UMPIRES OR CURRENT LEVEL 1 or 2 UMPIRES WHO INTEND TO UMPIRE MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE. IF YOU ARE A RETURNING UMPIRE, BRING YOUR RULE BOOK. PLEASE WEAR SNEAKERS AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING. IF YOU HAVE A BALL GLOVE AND MASK, PLEASE BRING IT ALONG AS WELL.
LWF UMPIRE PROGRAM
Being a baseball umpire is a great way for youth to develop leadership skills and confidence. Many of our umpires are also baseball players in LWF and Tri-County so this experience allows them to be engaged in a different aspect of the game which provides them an elevated level of learning and perspective. We offer 100% support to our youth umpires and actively encourage all coaches, players and parents to respect and support them as well. We strive to maintain a safe working environment both on and off the fields and also do our best to maintain as stress free an environment as possible.
In 2013 LWF Baseball added a Rookie League Umpire Development Program. This program is for all 12 year old umpires who wish to try it out in a low stress fun environment. We have had great success with this program as it builds confidence, teaches game management and all of the basics skills necessary before stepping up to higher levels. Contact us at whitford@eastlink.ca to register or for more information regarding our umpiring program.
