The concession stand is an important source of revenue for Greenwood Lake Little League. The concession stand is staffed entirely by parents. Every players parent is required to work one (1) shift per player in the league. Ex: you have two ( 2 ) players , you work two ( 2 ) shifts.
Workers in the concession stand help open and set up for business, prepare food, take orders, ring up sales, serve orders, and shut down, clean and re-stock the shelves at the end of their shifts. First-time volunteers should arrive 5-10 minutes early the first time they work a shift so that they can be briefly trained by the Officer on Duty on operating the concession stand and other equipment.
On weeknights, shifts start at 5:30 or 5:45 PM and go until approximately 8:15 PM or when the last game ends.
Saturday shifts are start around 9:45 AM and are also 2 1/2 hours long. The last shift of the weekend day is there still the games ends and teams have had a chance to stop on.
At times your shift can be over before the 2 hours and 30 mins, and at times the shift can run over 2 hours and 30 mins. WE HAVE NO CONTROL over this. It rarely happens. While we estimate 2 hours and 30 mins, we cannot close the stand until last customer comes thru. About 10 mins after the game ends you can call last call.
Unfortunately a last minute cancellation will occur and we are unable to reach the volunteer before they make it to the stand. THIS DOES NOT fulfill your shift, you will be rescheduled. If your shift is rained out , it will be rescheduled. If your game gets rescheduled , you will be rescheduled. if that shift is full you can pick a new one. Sometimes you may sign up for a shift and something comes up and you cant make it, you are responsible to swap ,make arrangements and ALWAYS EMAIL US at gwlconcessionstand@yahoo.com and let us know who will be filling it. Deleting yourself from the volunteerspot WILL NOT fix the situation. Failure to show up for any scheduled shifts will forfeit your $75.00 . We DO NOT WANT TO KEEP YOUR MONEY, we need volunteers to make the stand run.
Anyone who does not get a spot in the season schedule WILL be assigned for the All Star Games that happen after our season ends.
When it comes to the stand we have no choice but to run it like a business. The Greenwood Lake Little League operates entirely by players fees, sponsors and stand revenue. We receive money from no other entities. The concession stand revenue is a vital part of the league Without it registration fees would be much higher. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding,
