Fall (Outdoor) Soccer Season
Birth Year Registration & Age Groups
The WSC will be looking to form boys and girls teams for the following age groups: 2009/2010 (U14); 2011/2012 (U12); 2013/2014 (U10); and 2015/2016/early 2017(U8).
Fall Soccer typically runs 7-8 weeks, from the last week of August (typically the first week of practice) through the third week of October. Practices (usually 2 days a week for U10/U12/U14 and 1-2 days a week for U8s), are at the Williston Community Fields (behind Williston Central School, 250 Library Lane) or Allen Brook Park (adjacent to Allen Brook School, 497 Talcott Rd). Sessions will be competitive and focus on personal athletic skill development, drills and scrimmages. This is not a recreational program. Players are expected to be ready at the beginning of each training session and to take the session seriously. Poor behavior will not be tolerated; players that aren't cooperating may be spoken to and/or removed from training until they are able to participate with maturity and integrity.
All games will take place at the Essex Tree Farm on Sunday afternoons.
Format and Game Length by Age Group:
U8 4x10 minutes 4v4 format (no goal keeper)
U10 2x25 minutes 7v7 format
U12 2x30 minutes 9v9 format
U14 2x35 minutes 11v11 format
Fall registration fees for WSC players typically cost between $75-$100 and cover team fees ($275/team), referee fees (~$100/team) and player pass fees ($30/player). Please note that there will be separate registrations/fees for the winter and spring seasons.
If you have questions, or to register, please contact Matt Spitznagle at (802) 578-7417 or via email.
General Information
The Williston Soccer Club (WSC) strives to provide all players with the opportunity to learn and develop skills with a focus on teamwork, sportsmanship, competition and fun. We do not require try outs but we ask for each player’s commitment to a more competitive level of play. The fall season runs from late August through mid-October. Weekday practices are held at the Williston Central School soccer fields and weekend games (Sundays) are played at Essex Tree Farm against neighboring towns. In an effort to make the Williston Soccer Club’s U10 and higher teams more competitive and retain their talented players, the coaches have the discretion to field “A” and “B” teams (when there are enough players), select players to play in games (this will be based on skill level) and determine playing time in games.
We gladly accept surrounding town players for our teams.
Teams
Several years ago, U.S. Soccer has made some changes to encourage further youth development. These changes included the nationwide adoption of Small-Sided Games and a shift from school-year to calendar year for the age grouping of teams. Read more at the U.S. Youth Soccer website.
