2019 POSEYVILLE SUMMER SLAM 10U RULES


GAME DURATION AND GENERAL RULES


  • UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED IN THE BELOW WE WILL FOLLOW CAL RIPKEN RULES.

  • GAMES WILL LAST 6 INNINGS OR UNTIL TIME IS REACHED

  • TIME LIMIT IS 1 HOUR AND 50 MINUTES BESIDES IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. NO NEW INNING WILL START AFTER 1 HOUR AND 50 MINUTES.

  • AN INNING WILL END AFTER 3 OUTS OR 5 RUNS ARE SCORED.

  • 5 RUNS ALLOWED PER INNING THRU 4 INNINGS AFTER 4 INNINGS WILL BE UNLIMITED.

  • THERE IS A 15 RUN RULE AFTER 4 INNINGS OF PLAY AND 10 RUN RULE AFTER 5 INNINGS.

  • BASEBALLS WILL BE CAL RIPKEN STAMPED OR EQUILIVANT.

  • MAXIMUM OF 15 PLAYER ROSTER.

  • HOME TEAM HOLDS OFFICIAL BOOK, THE VISITING TEAM WILL NEED TO SUPPLY SOMEONE TO KEEP SCOREBOARD.

  • DELAY OF GAME WILL BE UNDER UMPIRE’S DISCREATION.  THE FIRST OFFENSE WILL BE A WARNING NEXT WILL BE AN OUT.

  • RAIN SHORTEND GAMES WILL BE OFFICIAL AFTER 4 INNINGS OR 3 ½ IF HOME TEAM IS WINNING.  IF GAMES ARE NOT TO THAT INNING WE WILL START GAMES OVER.


BATTING


  • BATS MUST COMPLY WITH USA BASEBALL BAT STANDARDS.

  • ALL PLAYERS MUST BE IN THE BATTING ORDER.

  • ALL BATTERS WILL WEAR A HELMET.

  • NO DROPPED THIRD STRIKE RULE IN EFFECT (IF A PLAYER SWINGS AND MISSIES ON A THIRD STRIKE OR THE UMPIRE CALLS A THIRD STRIKE AND THE CATCHER DROPS THE BALL, BATTER IS STILL OUT IMMEDIATELY).

  • BUNTING IS ALLOWED.

  • NO SLAP/SLASH BUNTINFG (ONCE A PLAYER TURNS/SQUARES TO BUNT, PLAYER MUST EITHER ATTEMPT TO BUNT THE BALL OR PULL THE BAT BACK; PLAYER MAY NOT FAKE THE BUNT, THEN TAKE A SWING AT THE PITCH).

  • ANY BATTER THROWING A BAT WILL BE GIVEN A WARNING, ON THE SECOND OFFENSE THE BATTER WILL BE CALLED OUT.  NO RUNNERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO ADVANCE.

  • A PLAYER MAY BE REMOVED FROM BATTING LINEUP DUE TO INJURY.


FIELDING


  • MINIMUM OF 8 PLAYERS NEEDED TO CONSTITUTE A GAME.

  • EACH PLAYER MUST PLAY IN FIELD FOR ONE INNING.

  • 4 OUTFIELDERS.

  • YOU MUST FIELD ALL 6 INFIELD POSITIONS FIRST.

  • FIELDERS MUST MOVE OUT OF A BASE RUNNERS PATH IF THEY DO NOT POSSESS THE BALL AND NO PLAY IS BEING MADE ON A THROWN BALL.

  • PLAY WILL END ONLY WHEN THE UMPIRE CALLS TIME OR WHEN RUNNERS HAVE COMPLETELY STOPPED, AND PITCHER HAS THE BALL AT MOUND AREA.

  • NO INFIELD FLY RULE.

  • ALL PLAYERS MUST WEAR A PROTECTIVE CUP.


BASE RUNNING


  • NO LEAD OFFS.

  • PLAYERS CAN TAKE UNLIMITED BASES AFTER A BALL IS PUT INTO PLAY.

  • PLAYERS CAN ADVANCE UNLIMITED BASES ON OVERTHROWS.

  • STEALS ARE ALLOWED; BASE RUNNERS CANNOT LEAVE BASES UNTIL PITCH HAS CROSSED HOME PLATE.

  • IF A BASE RUNNER LEAVES THE BASE PRIOR TO BALL CROSSING THE PLATE, THE RUNNER CAN BE CALLED OUT (UMPIRE DISCRETION). AN UMPIRE MAY ALSO DECIDE TO RETURN THE RUNNER TO THE PREVIOUS BASE, BUT IF THAT BASE IS THEN OCCUPIED, THE RUNNER MUST BE CALLED OUT. WARNINGS DO NOT HAVE TO BE GIVEN FOR THIS INFRACTION.

  • BASE RUNNERS MUST ATTEMPT TO AVOID CONTACT WITH FIELDERS AND SHOULD SLIDE FEET FIRST ON ALL PLAYS AT BASES AND HOME PLATE. (BASE RUNNERS ARE ALLOWED TO SLIDE HEAD FIRST BACK INTO A BASE IF NECESSARY.)


PITCHING


  • PITCH COUNT WILL BE USED:


  1. 75 MAX PITCHES IN A DAY

  2. 1-40 PITCHES=NO DAY REST

  3. 41-65 PITCHES=1 DAY REST

  4. 66+ PITCHES=2 DAYS REST

  5. A PITCHER CAN FINISH THE BATTER HE IS CURRENTLY ON WHEN GOING OVER MAXIMUM COUNT OF 75.


  • PITCHING DISTANCE IS 46 FEET.

  • PITCHERS MAY USE WIND UP OR STRETCH DELIVERY.

  • NO BALKS WILL BE CALLED.


TOURNAMENT FORMAT


  • TEWO GAME POOL PLAY WITH A DOUBLE ELIMINATION TOURNAMENT

  • TOURNAMENT SEEDING WILL BE BASED ON POOL PLAY RECORDS.

  • TIE BREAKER FOR SEEDS:


  1. HEAD TO HEAD

  2. LEAST RUNS GIVEN UP DEFENSIVELY

  3. MOST RUNS SCORED OFFENSIVELY

  4. COIN TOSS


NOTE-COIN TOSS WILL DETERMINE HOME TEAM FOR EACH POOL PLAY GAME.  BEST SEED WILL BE HOME TEAM FOR EACH TOURNAMENT GAME.
