Graham Cumming, a new pitcher for our Invaders, tossed 5 innings total without a run and allowed only one hit. Daishin Tanaka also stepped up after and completed an inning with 3 Ks.
In regards of today's bats, Takumi reached base twice and scored twice. Kato Suzuki also contributed with 2 RBI to defeat the Hustle.
The San Diego Invaders will be playing this Saturday at Serra high school at 1 pm vs the Rough Riders.
Another Strong Day for the Invaders, 5-0 win
Jun Kobayashi
San Diego, California
The Invaders faced the Rough Riders at Serra high school and won the game 5-0. Our pitchers recorded no hitter throughout 9 innings and combined a total of 19 strike outs.
Daishin Tanaka, the ace of our Invaders, was as sharp as he can be and enjoyed pitching today. He threw 5 innings with 11Ks, his career high, and allowed no hits. Tanner Smith followed Tanaka's scoreless innings and completed two innings with 5Ks.
Turning attention to the offense, Dillon Mickalson collected 3 hits and 3 runs which largely contributed to today's win. Eligha Lewis also hit hard twice and stolen bases twice to make the game more exciting.
The next game for the Invaders will be against the So Cal Clippers on Wednesday, at Serra High School.

Invaders 4, Clippers 5
The San Diego Invaders looked to finish off the two game season sweep of the West Coast Clippers, and got a great pitching performance from starter Nick Merkin, but fell late 5-4.
Merkin started slow, but finished with 10 strikeouts and just 1 run allowed in 5 innings of work. Early inning baserunners couldn't take advantage of the 4 free passes he allowed, and once he settled in, Clippers hitters had no chance.
Eligha Lewis chipped in a 2-4 afternoon with a pair of singles and RBI, and top of the lineup hitters Dillon Mickalson and Takumi Maeno combined to score 3 runs and steal 4 bases.
But in the 8th, Invaders reliever Ryuya Kato allowed a leadoff home run, along with a two run double to put the Clippers on top. The Invaders went down quietly in the 9th to seal the game.
June 20th the Invaders are back at home when they face off against the Hustle whom they've beaten once already this year. Game time is 4:30 PM
Hustle 3, Invaders 3
Serra High School
9 innings wasn't enough, but that's all the Invaders and Hustle had time for today as the game ended in a 3-3 tie. Invaders starting pitcher Tanner Smith gave up 3 runs over the first two innings, and a high pitch count forced him out after just 4 1/3. Relievers Cade Logan (3 2/3, 5 k's) and Ryuya Kato (1 inning, 1 K ) allowed no runs in a combined 4 2/3 innings pitched to keep the Invaders within striking distance. A big RBI double by Riki Uemara in the 8th tied the game and prevented back to back loses for the Invaders, but that would be as close to victory as the team would get.
The Invaders will look to get back into the win column on Saturday.
STRONG WIN BY THE INVADERS
Jun Kobayashi
San Diego CA,
Another strong win brought by the Invaders in today's game against the San Diego Force at Serra High School, the Final Score 8-7. The Invaders were aggressive at the plate from the beginning of the game and scored 7 runs in the first, and never surrendering the lead again.
Daishin Tanaka took the hill first and and showed why he's the Invaders ace. While he gave up 4 runs, he pitched six innings with 4 Ks and was able to pitch well enough for the win. Ryuya Kato followed him nicely and silenced the Force bats for two innings.
There were a total of 4 hits and 3 walks which produced 7 runs. Jacob Trujillo brought two runners back with a single hit before the inning ended. All Tatsu Negishi, Takumi Maeno, Brandon Glawacki, and Troy Liebesman had two hits and and the Force fielders on their toes.
The Invaders head into a double header with the Inland Empire Jays with some momentum, first pitch at 1 pm.
Patience pays off for the Invaders, 6-5 Win
Jun Kobayashi
San Diego, California
In the second game of the double header, the Invaders played against the Jays and their bats did amazing jobs which brought a victory, the final score 6-5, to their team. There was a little bit of unstableness in the begginng of the game, but the Invaders stayed patient until the opportunity rolled over to them.
Cade Logan started on the mound and allowed three runs. Then Max received a ball and gave up 2 runs but earned only one to make the game. After the Invaders scored more runs than the Jays, Graham Cummings and Cade Bochler shut down the Jays' offense to end the game.
In the fifth inning, they stayed on the plate aggresively and gathered a total of 4 runs with 2 HBP, 1BB, and one hit. After Ken Daples made a clean sacrificed bunt, Mike Welch answered with a nice single to the left field and created a mood to win the game.
The Invaders won both the games of the double header and will face another opponent on this Saturday.
Won both games in the double header
Jun Kobayashi
San Diego, California
Our San Diego Invaders had a double header on Saturday against the Highlanders in the first game and against the Rough Riders in the second game. In the first game, we dominated the Highlanders with the final score of 7-2 by showing a strong pitching throughout nine innings. We also won the second game, but our pitching crews struggled to throw strikes which costed 8 runs. However, our bats produced a total of 19 hits to bring 10 runners back into the home plate and won the game, the final score 10-8.
Tanner Smith, our starting pitcher of the first game, controlled the game from the first inning and collected impressing 10 Ks in his 6 inning outing. Cade Logan and Tatsu Negishi also did not allow any runs to end the game.
Our bats were impressing too. We had 11 hits to create 7 runs and enjoyed until the end of the game. Notably, Adrian Lopez had his first hit of the season and went 2 for 2 with 1 BB to show improvement at bats.
In contrast to the fist game, the second game was not as smooth as the first one. Our pitched had a difficulty of throwing strikes and allowed 8 runs which could have changed the outcome of the game. Our offense stepped up brilliantly and outperformed the Rough Riders. Takumi Maeno, Ronald Stokes, Kota Suzuki, and Jacob Trujillo all had a three hit day and were aggressive every at bat.
Our offense is improving every game and is interesting to watch. Let's hope for another win on Monday at Serra High School.
Invaders Cruise 9-0
Invaders 9, Elite 0
July 11, 2019
Hosting the SoCal Elite from the Western Baseball Association, the Invaders were able to take an early lead and never looked back.
Three runs in the first inning would be all SP Tanner Smith would need, as he 6 shutout innings for easily his best outing of the year. He alllowed only 3 baserunners and struck out 6. Relievers Dashin Tanaka, Graham Cumming, and Max made sure there was no Elite comeback, and slammed the door shut to and extend the Invaders win streak to 6 games.
Offensivley, Cedric Ada had a pair of doubles to go with a pair of RBI, while a total of 7 Invaders had hits off Elite pitching.
The Invaders will look to continue the win streak Saturday vs The Hustle at Serra High School. First pitch at 4 pm.
Tanner Smith stifles So Cal Elite
Jun Kobayashi
San Diego, California
Under the beautiful San Diego weather, the Invaders completed a game against So Cal Elite with a victory, 9-0. In a season focusing providing opportunities to young talents, several players seized theirs in every game they play. If they are willing to compete in the playoffs, this game will be a perfect example to find a right formula for future successes.
Tanner Smith was outstanding from the beginning. He pitched a solid 6 innings and almost achieved a no-hitter until he allowed a infield hit in the 6th inning. However, he created the winning mood which did not allow Elite's hitters to come back.
On the offensive, the lineup got started with 2 run RBI single from Ryuichiro Kimura. Another big inning came in the 4th inning; Takumi Maeno smashed a ball toward right-center field which resulted in a RBI triple.
Our bats stay hot and pitching has been good these two games. The Invaders now increased their winning streak to 6 and are going to win more games. The next game will be against the Hustle at Serra High School tomorrow.
Invaders' offense explodes for 21 runs

San Diego, California
The Invaders played against the Hustle today and showed fantastic performance at bats. The Invaders sent 12 runs to the plate and collected a season high 7 runs in the eighth inning of today's 21-7 win on Friday at Serra High School.
The Invaders' bats were never ending in today's game. Kota Suzuki delivered 4 hits and 7 RBIs. Both Takumi Maeno and Hideaki Tanaka scored three times each to increase their leads. Almost every player hit balls hard today and seeks to continue their performance in next game.
The next game will be announced soon.

The San Diego Invaders faced the Peninsula White Sox at Serra High School on Wednesday even, with both teams playing with an aggressive tone from the first pitch of the game. The Invaders were able to extend their win streak to 8, in a victory that seemed to pump up everyone on the team.
Daishin Tanaka started the game, but was inconsistent, giving up 5 runs with 6 BBs in 4 1/3 innings. However, Graham Cummings came in for relief, and held White Sox to no run and hit and two BBs with 4 strikeouts. He learned and improved from his previous outing and focused more on the command to prevent the game from slowing down.
Preserving the deficit, Cummings' pitching allowed the offense to back him up with 7 runs. Kota Suzuki collected three hits and only missed out on a home run to achieve a first cycle hit in the Invaders' history. The most critical situation for the Invaders came when Tatsu Negishi made a sacrifice bunt nicely to advance the runner in the 7th inning. It was Brandon Glowacki who brought a go-ahead double to take the lead of the game.
Now the Invaders extended their winning streak to 8 and will face the Peninsula White Sox again at Serra High School at 5PM today.
10 Winning Streaks Achieved by Strong Pitching
Jun Kobayashi
San Diego, California
The Invaders played a last game of the series against the Peninsula White Sox at Serra High School and shut the White Sox down in a 3-0 victory. While our pitchers did not allow any runners to step the third base, there was no error recorded throughout the game. Moreover, we made 3 double plays which are the most in the season.
Max took the hill in the beginning of the game and threw 4IP, 2H, 3BB, and 2K. Kato Ryuya also dominated White Sox's hitters and allowed 1 hit over 3 scoreless innings. Both Tatsu and Ryu came up in the last two innings to end the game.
Takumi Maeno had another lead-off double of the day and returned to the home plate with Kota's RBI ground out. Takumi also contributed to the third run of the game in the 5th inning to spread the lead. Hideaki Tanaka had a two hit day and collected a run.
The Invaders now accomplished 10 winning streaks, which is a season record in the Invaders' history. It is a result of hard work and patience built upon in every game. We will continue our dedication until the season ends and our next game will be announced soon in the Invaders' website.
Pitching crews propelled Invaders

Tanner Smith keeps momentum going in today's game against the Peninsula White Sox. He made sure to keep the good times rolling by limiting the White Sox to just two runs over six innings in a 7-3 victory at Serra High School to help the Invaders win 9 games in a row. He has been consistent his last 4 starts and managed 2.14 ERA.
The Invaders exploded from the first inning which brought 3 runs in. Takumi Maeno, our all time lead off hitter, smashed a 3 run triple and almost recorded an inside park homerun if there was not an interference by the third baseman. He has been maintaining his batting average of .350 or above since he joined the Invaders, and he is now a central figure of the team.
The Invaders will now play the last game of the series against the Peninsula White Sox today at 4PM.
2019 Invaders and White Sox at Serra High School
Ada stays hot as Invaders defeat Hustle
Jun Kobayashi
San Diego, California
The Invaders played against the Hustle at Serra High School and defeated with 5-3 final score. Both teams played well, but it was the Invaders who prevailed in power struggle. Ada Cedric went 2 for 3 in a 3 RBI performance. He was content to do so and showing improvements in every game. Ada's tying triple highlighted the game, and he is using the entire field to increase the chance of getting on the base.
Daishin Tanaka departed with an ugly pitching, as he was charged with 3 runs over 5 innings with 7 hits and 5 BBs. Unlike an usual pattern, the bullpens were able to restore order. Max did not allow any run in 3 innings and helped the Invaders win the game.
The Invaders will have their last game of the season tomorrow at 4PM at Serra High School.
Season Recap 2019
2019 Season Recap
August 1
The San Diego Invaders have put a bow on 2019, and it was one, of if not the most successful season in all of Invaders history. Finishing with a record of 17-4, the Invaders finished with a 12 game win streak, beating their organization rivals the San Diego Force, the San Diego Hustle, Inland Empire Jays, and Peninsula White Sox to name a few. It didn't matter if the teams were local or visiting from other parts of California, the Invaders proved ready to meet the challenge.
Offensively, much of this year's firepower came from the group of Japanese players who proved more than capable of facing top college pitching. Kota Suzuki and Takumi Maeno led the team with 16 RBI each, while Tatsunori Negishi and Riki Uemara led the team in hitting with batting averages of .379 and .389 respectively.
And on the mound, Daishin Tanaka was nearly un-hittable, carrying an ERA under 2 for much of the season. He finished with 28 and 1/3 innings pitched, with 3 wins, 40 strikeouts and a 3.18 ERA.
The season would not have been the success it was without the amazing contributions from all our Japanese players. Additionally, strong pitching performances late in the season by Graham Cumming, Tanner Smith, and Cade Logan, along with a late season resurgence from power hitter Cedric Ada and the reliability of catcher Mikie Welch helped propel this Invaders team to the success it was.
Thank you everyone for a great year
