Troop 318 -- EAGLE SCOUTS

Eagle Scout Facts
The fact that a boy is an Eagle Scout has always carried with it a special significance, not only in Scouting but also as he enters higher education, business or industry, and community service. The award is a performance-based achievement whose standards have been well-maintained over the years.

Not every boy who joins a Boy Scout troop earns the Eagle Scout rank; only about 4 percent of all Boy Scouts do so. This represents more than 1 million Boy Scouts who have earned the rank since 1911. Nevertheless, the goals of Scouting - citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness - remain important for all Scouts, whether or not they attain the Eagle Scout rank.

Troop 318 leadership is very dedicated to all boys regardless of which of the many aspects of Scouting the individual boy chooses to pursue. Troop 318 is highly respected throughout Calumet Council for the sheer number of boys in our troop that choose to pursue the Eagle rank... and accomplish their goal!

OP Brothers Aim For Eagle (Brian & Patrick McMahon)

Troop 318 Eagle Scouts - Orland Prairie article

Past Troop members achive the rank of Eagle. Kevin & Sean Nicholson

On July 18th Kevin and Sean passed their Eagle board of review.   We had a Court of Honor at our Church for them on October 2nd.  Attached are links to Troop 74's web site and photo album where you can see pictures of the boys, the ceremony, etc.  You'll also see T318 proudly represented in the shadow boxes the boys and I made to comerate their attaining the rank of Eagle.   Below is a short description of their projects.

Thanks - Ron Nicholson

The goal of Kevin’s Eagle Scout Service Project was to support efforts to grow the population of ‘at risk’ American Kestrels and Barn Owls in the Lehigh Valley. He fundraised to secure the materials then led a group of Scout and adult volunteers who constructed ten owl barns and 23 American Kestrel nesting boxes. Some boxes were mounted locally and the balance will be distributed by the Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center for use throughout the Lehigh Valley. Aside from Kevin, 21 volunteers helped Kevin achieve his goal over the course of six work sessions.

The goal of Sean’s Eagle Scout Service Project was to preserve the enjoyment of the Jacobsburg Environmental Education center for many by restoring the most popular trail in the park, the Henry’s Woods trail. He fundraised to secure the materials then led a group of Scout and adult volunteers who completed the restoration of four sections of trail that were at risk of failing causing the closing of the trail. The construction phase of Sean’s project involved the efforts of 16 volunteers over the course of seven work days.
