MISSION STATEMENT
Library Pals is an informal network between our players and teen community service volunteers which meets at the library after school and through the summer. Monroe Special sports helps facilitate the exchange of contact information, screening of potential volunteers, and writing letters to validate the community service hours for the volunteers.
Prospective volunteers should send MSS an email containing their contact information, availability, and what age groups and ability levels they feel they would be successful working with. MSS then determines a match up they feel would be most beneficial to the players and shares the volunteer’s contact information with them.
Please note that MSS only facilitates the sharing of contact information after we have screened the volunteers. As with all MSS programs, parents are required to stay with their children at all times and are responsible for their well-being.
Many of the volunteers are already participating in other MSS programs, but some are new only to Library Pals. To date, we have six players involved in this program over the course of three summers.
