Pulaski Invitational

50 Years of the Pulaski Invitational:

·         The first Pulaski Invitational in 1969 started as humble, seven-school tournament.  The school districts competing in ‘69 included: Portage (1st place), Antigo (2nd place), Pulaski (3rd place) along with Luxemburg-Casco, Fond du Lac, Merrill and Peshtigo.

·         The Red Raiders have won their home tournament outright a total of 8 times and tied with Denmark for a share of the title in 1971.

·         There have been over 80 Pulaski wrestlers who have claimed the title of Champion over the last 50 years, including many who have won 2 or more P-Invite titles.  Current Pulaski head coach, Ryan Deprey has won the title twice himself while wrestling for Luxemburg-Casco (1996 &1997).

·         In addition to Coach Deprey, there have been some very notable wrestlers that have spent time on the mats of the P Invite including  Alex Dieringer from Port Washington who went on to become a three-time NCAA National Champion at Oklahoma State and Garrett Lowney from Freedom who won a bronze medal for the USA in the 2000 Summer Olympics.

·         This tournament is steeped in tradition and is known for being one of the toughest tournaments around, some even calling it “tougher than state” because of the level of competition.
