(A) Prior to prospective players attending the tryout sessions, the parent or guardian of each child must complete a player registration and medical release form.
(B) Tryouts will be conducted under the auspices of the Head Coach and at least one other volunteer who is an assistant coach and/or head coach of other Mid Monmouth teams, a Youth Recreation coach or an Association officer in order to provide a fair consideration of all candidates. Participation on a prior year’s Youth Traveling team shall not guarantee a boy or girl’s re-selection and continued participation on a Youth Traveling team. No information on the evaluations of players will be disseminated beyond the those individuals conducting tryouts and the Association's officers. Players selected will be notified by the Head Coach, who will then notify those not selected as set forth below. A player will not be considered a member of the current year’s Knights Youth Traveling team until his or her parent signs the agreement form which includes payment of the fees and the agreement to support the program in fund raising efforts. No parent or guardian will be allowed in the gym during a tryout session.
(C) Tryouts will generally cover two nights for each age group and gender. The dates for said tryouts will be set and advertised by the Oceanport Basketball Association's Board of Directors. No additional tryouts can be scheduled without the authorization of the Oceanport Basketball Association's Board of Directors. The tryouts will consist of drills and various games geared toward giving the coaches a broad view of the players’ talents and capabilities. To be eligible to make a team, absent extenuating circumstances, a player must attend at least one tryout.
(D) Teams will generally consist of 10 players and will be limited to no more than 15 players. The Association's Board must be notified of the names of the players who have been selected for each team. The Board reserves the right to involve itself in the selection process in the event that a complaint is filed with the Board regarding the process.
(E) Absent extenuating circumstances, the names of the players selected for each team will be posted on the Oceanport Basketball Association’s website within one week following the last tryout session. No child shall be informed that he/she is being selected or not selected in the presence of any other child or any other child's parent.
