Larry Boresen served the Boro of Oceanport for many years as a Board of Education Member, Vice-President and President and as President of the Oceanport Basketball Association. The residents of the Boro of Oceanport were so grateful for his selfless dedication and service to the youth of Oceanport that the gymnasium at Maple Place is named in his honor. The picture above is that of a plaque which hangs over the entrance door to the gymnasium at Maple Place.

In 1993, the Oceanport Basketball Association instituted the Lawrence R. Boresen Award for Outstanding Service to Oceanport Basketball. This award has been bestowed upon the following individuals:
