REBELS CAPTURE ANOTHER TOURNAMENT, REMAIN UNBEATEN IN TOURNEY PLAY

REBELS REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN AA TOURNAMENT PLAY AND FLASH THEIR RINGS, YET AGAIN.

The FW Rebels had an adventurous weekend that resulted in yet another tournament championship.  All in all, the Rebels started four games this weekend, but due to weather and lightening, were only able to complete two of them.  Both of those games were against Rawlings Velocity Blue who were ranked in the Top 10 in Texas by USSSA.  The Rebels swept Rawlings 4-2 and 11-2.

Jack Dalton was masterful on the hill in the 4-2 Rebels victory.  Dalton went 5 innings, allowed 2 unearned runs, and struckout 12. Dalton pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the first inning allowing just one run to score, that batter had reached first on catcher's interference.  That 1-0 lead held up until the bottom of the 2nd.  Drew Horstman reached on a leadoff walk then stole second.  He was then able to make it to third on a dropped strike three where Karson Symonds was thrown out at first. Jon Doko grounded out on an 0-1 pitch to gt the tying run to score.  It stayed 1-1 til the bottom of the 4th.  Evan Smith walked to open the inning.  Smith stole second than went to third on a Jackson Jordan ground out.  Drew Horstman singled in Smith on a hard hit ball to third.  Horstman stole second but was gunned down at the plate from centerfield after a Karson Symonds single.  Jon Doko singled in Symonds to make it 3-1.

Rawlings added an unearned run in the 5th to make it 3-2.  Will Adams led off the bottom of the 5th by getting hit by a pitch.  Evan Swindell followed with a walk.  The next hitter was Jace Franke who singled in Adams to give the Rebels a 4-2 lead.  Time expired and the game was over.  Dalton was the winning pitcher improving his record on the season to 5-2.

Rawlings earned their way to a re-match with the Rebels in the semifinals but this time, the game was no contest.  The Rebels exploded for six runs in the first and five in the second and won the game 11-2.  Jackson Jordan went the distance for the Rebels improving his record to 4-0 on the season.  Jordan threw 4 innings, allowed 3 hits, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts.  Evan Smith went 2-3 at the plate with 2 runs and 2 RBI while Quentin Enos went 2-2 with 2 RBI as well.  Enos did a nice job catching and threw out a runner at second in the first inning.  Christopher Calabrese added a 2-run single as well to break the game wide open in the first.

The championship game paired the Rebels vs Ntx Gators.  Quentin Enos started on the hill for the Rebels.  He allowed a leadoff walk that was eliminated when trying to steal second with a great thrown from catcher Jon Doko.  The next Gators hitter blasted a home run deep to left.  However, he failed to touch 1st base so when the Rebels appealed, he was called out.  In the bottom of the 1st, with one out, Jack Dalton hit a missile off of the right center field wall for a single.  Dalton stole second.  With two outs, Jackson Jordan had a sensational at bat and won the war with a hard hit single to right to score Dalton.  In the 2nd inning, lightening came and the tournament was called.  Since the Rebels earned the #1 seed, and were ahead, they were rewarded the tournament championship.

In 11 tournament games, the FW Rebels are a perfect 11-0 on the season.
