REBELS CAN'T HOLD ON, LOSE TO EXTREME 7-6

April 11, 2019

The FW Rebels are undefeated playing AA teams this season, but they have struggled to get into the win column vs teams classified AAA or higher.  On Thursday night, the Rebels had a 5-2 lead heading into the final inning but allowed 5 runs losing by a final score of 7-6.  The highlight of the game was a majestic 2-run Home Run by Jon Doko in the 2nd inning which gave the Rebels a 2-1 lead at the time.  It was Doko's 1st Home Run of the season and it's possible it still hasn't come down yet.  Doko & Jackson Jordan led the way with 2 RBI each.

The Rebels were tied 2-2 heading to the bottom of the 4th and Jack Dalton got things started with a leadoff infield single to 3rd.  Dalton stole 2nd and then Evan Smith hit a ground ball to the secondbaseman who made a solid throw to first but the firstbaseman flat out dropped the ball.  Smith stole second and he and Dalton both came in to score on a 2-run single by Jackson Jordan to make it 4-2.  Drew Horstman ran for Jordan and stole second.  Horstman advanced to 3rd on a groundout by Karson Symonds and then scored the 5th Rebels run on a wild pitch.

Shaky defense enabled the Extreme to score 5 runs in the 5th off of pitchers Jackson Jordan & Quentin Enos.  Still, the Rebels fought back in the bottom half of the last inning.  With one out, Quentin Enos doubled to right center.  Jack Dalton walked and stole 2nd.  Pinch runner Will Adams scored on an RBI ground out by Evan Smith to make it 7-6 but that's where the Rebels rally ended as Jackson Jordan flew to center to end the game.  The Rebels fell to 13-3 on the season.
