FW REBELS SLUGGER JON DOKO IS CONGRATULATED BY COACH MARK SWINDELL FOLLOWING HIS 2-RUN HR WHILE HIS TEAMMATES WAIT TO GREET HIM. DOKO'S BOMB GAVE THE REBELS AN 8-7 LEAD OVER THE NTX BULLS WOOD MAJORS. DOKO FINISHED 3-3, WITH 3 RBI.
The first game of the season had the FW Rebels paired up with NTX Bulls Wood Majors and the Bulls won easily 16-0. Things weren't as easy for the Bulls in the rematch as it took a 7-run last inning rally to break an 8-8 tie for the Bulls to pull away and win 15-8. Rebels catcher Jon Doko had a huge day at the plate going 3-3 with his 2nd Home Run of the season and 3 RBI. Doko's RBI double in the first gave the Rebels a 4-1 lead. Evan Smith went 1-3 with 2 RBI.
The Rebels scored 5 in the first with Jace Franke leading off with a single. The next hitter, Jack Dalton was hit by a pitch, and that was followed with a single from Drew Horstman. With the bases loaded, Jackson Jordan was hit by a pitch to make it 1-1. Karson Symonds & Evan Smith both followed with run scoring ground outs to make it 3-1. Doko drove in Jordan with a double and courtesy runner Smith capped the scoring off by coming home on a wild pitch.
With the Rebels down 7-5, they came back again in the bottom of the 3rd. Jackson Jordan walked to open the inning. With one out, Evan Smith singled in Jordan to make it 7-6. That set the stage for Doko who crushed a 3-0 fastball deep into the night to take an 8-7 lead.
