May 7, 2019

FW REBELS SLUGGER JON DOKO IS CONGRATULATED BY COACH MARK SWINDELL FOLLOWING HIS 2-RUN HR WHILE HIS TEAMMATES WAIT TO GREET HIM.  DOKO'S BOMB GAVE THE REBELS AN 8-7 LEAD OVER THE NTX BULLS WOOD MAJORS. DOKO FINISHED 3-3, WITH 3 RBI.

The first game of the season had the FW Rebels paired up with NTX Bulls Wood Majors and the Bulls won easily 16-0.  Things weren't as easy for the Bulls in the rematch as it took a 7-run last inning rally to break an 8-8 tie for the Bulls to pull away and win 15-8.  Rebels catcher Jon Doko had a huge day at the plate going 3-3 with his 2nd Home Run of the season and 3 RBI. Doko's RBI double in the first gave the Rebels a 4-1 lead.  Evan Smith went 1-3 with 2 RBI.

The Rebels scored 5 in the first with Jace Franke leading off with a single.  The next hitter, Jack Dalton was hit by a pitch, and that was followed with a single from Drew Horstman.  With the bases loaded, Jackson Jordan was hit by a pitch to make it 1-1.  Karson Symonds & Evan Smith both followed with run scoring ground outs to make it 3-1.  Doko drove in Jordan with a double and courtesy runner Smith capped the scoring off by coming home on a wild pitch.

With the Rebels down 7-5, they came back again in the bottom of the 3rd.  Jackson Jordan walked to open the inning.  With one out, Evan Smith singled in Jordan to make it 7-6.  That set the stage for Doko who crushed a 3-0 fastball deep into the night to take an 8-7 lead.

Jackson Jordan & Evan Smith battled through 4 innings holding the mighty Bulls lineup to just 8 runs.
