Welcome back everybody!   We're ready to embark on another season which we believe to be exciting as we plow through the Summer months and of course to meet the new players as Suzuki (defending champs) try to wave that magic wand once more.  For varied reasons, six (6) of our players had decided to sit this one out.... which also provides an opportunity for new blood to join us.  Following are our rookies with their 'Ninongs' whom had sponsored them.  Ninongs are basically someone whom had put a good word on the new player and believed they have the intrinsic character to belong and be part of our LigaLeague.
  1. Fr. Bart (through Ninong Eddie Agbayani)
  2. Richard Posadas (through Ninong Eddie Agbayani)
  3. Fernando 'Nanding' Gonzales (through Ninong Beng Armonio)
  4. Norman Bueno (through Ninong Nap Quineri)
  5. Jamille Mangondato (through Ninong Billy)
  6. Xavier 'BG' Gozon (through Ninong Merick)

Thank you Ninongs for the recommendations. And for the rest of us, let's show them LL hospitality to get them acclimated :)

Players that are sitting out are:
  1. Allan Arceo - injury
  2. Alfon Dela Cruz - vacation
  3. Ricky Livelo - family
  4. Wilmer Ametin - injury
  5. Uriel Garcia - family
  6. Gideon Jacob - family

We've noticed an uptick of 'defaulted' games - we've had six (6) last season.  As you know LigaLeague's mission is to provide a situation where there is ample playing time for its players. Defaulting games happens to be opposite of the mission.  To address and discourage this issue, effective this upcoming Season 39, below rules are in effect:
  • Defaulting team will be charged $40 team penalty fee for defaulting for the first time
  • If defaulting team defaults a 2nd time, the team will be automatically excluded from the playoffs and subsequent playoff format (match ups) will be adjusted accordingly
Some may find this new rule surprising but wanted to highlight that most of us do look forward for Fridays to play (and get their cardio in and  a dash of competition).  It gets discouraging when something that you look forward to in the week does not materialize so, GROs have now acted to address it.

In addition to our mission, we have in place rules to minimize defaulting games, i.e. (a) we now have 9 players (8 FT and 1 PT) to pull from, and (b) if team can only muster 4 players, they can pull someone from the crowd!  We believe there's enough there to keep the games played.

Reflections is our S39 name because for the very first time in LL history, we have an 'active' priest joining for this double-round robin tournament. Welcome Fr Bart!  He presides at St. Clement here in Hayward and with him around, GROs anticipate a lot of bleeped-out frustrations on the floor, maybe kumbayas and mellowed conundrums with Ref Glen... :)
