HOBOKEN FALL BASEBALL PROGRAM

HOBOKEN FALL BASEBALL PROGRAM (MINOR & MAJOR LEAGUE): GENERAL INFORMATION

Program Placement (Baseball Ages & Divisions):

The program has been divided into two separate divisions for the fall season:

  • Minor League (8's)
  • Major League (9's - 11's)
  • Baseball Ages in the fall are based on the spring season (2023)
  • Coach Pitch players (baseball aged "7" during the spring season - 2023) are NOT eligible to participate in the fall season
  • Players that recently graduated from the Major League this past spring season (2023), a.k.a the former "12's"/rising "13's", are NOT eligible to participate
Program Goals / Objectives:
  • The fall baseball program serves as an extension of the annual training available to those already registered within our local Little League charter during the spring (2023).
  • The program is intended to be instructional, less competitive (than the spring), and mainly FUN!
  • While an important goal of the program is to have fun and connect with peers within the local community, it will primarily provide players with an opportunity to further develop their skills, gain additional "reps", and mainly prepare for the upcoming spring season. Coaches will instruct, teach, model, encourage continued growth, and foster a fondness for baseball through a game setting.
  • The program will provide returning players in the Minor/Major Leagues the chance to work with their current teammates/peers, further build camaraderie, strengthen various positions, and practice new/primary positions on the field without pressure. The key focus is NOT about "winning" during the fall season, instead, it is all about developing and growing.
  • The program also offers eligible players from the Minor/Minor Junior Leagues who are contemplating "moving up" to the next level/division in the upcoming spring season (2024) the opportunity to prepare and get their "feet wet" for the mandatory spring tryouts, and in that case, "sample" the more advanced level of play. These players will have the chance to experience playing baseball at the next level in a less intense learning atmosphere to help prepare and determine the right fit for the spring.
Overall Schedule / Plans:
  • The program will run for 7  weeks (one week of scrimmage/practice + 6 weeks of games)
    • Start Date: Tuesday, September 12th
    • End Date:  Thursday, October 26th

  • No regular practices will be held with the exception of the first week (September 12th - 14th)

  • All practices/warm-up sessions during the season will be held at the coach's discretion and may not run regularly (TBD)

TeamSnap:

  • The league will continue to use TeamSnap for all league-wide communication and team management during the fall season.
  • Rosters and schedules have been posted to TeamSnap and all enrolled families will have access to the "app"
  • One of the most important features that teams use often is the "availability tracker" to plan for the games.
  • Families are strongly encouraged to regularly mark their child's "availability" (attendance) to every game on the "app" in advance so the coaches/administration can plan accordingly.
