Around Class A: In the game of the week last Friday, Lewistown beat previously ranked Havre in a tight game and finds itself back in the rankings at No. 5 entering the postseason. It appears No. 1 Frenchtown and No. 2 Billings Central are the cream of the Class A crop going into the playoffs. The Broncs, Rams, No. 3 Dillon and Laurel all have first-round byes and will host quarterfinal games the weekend of Nov. 8-9. Defending champion Dillon has won five in a row following a two-point loss to Frenchtown on Sept. 20.

Billings Central and Frenchtown have been the best teams all season. The Broncs beat defending state champion Dillon earlier this season and have won games by an average of 33 points. Billings Central beat numerous ranked teams with ease: Lewistown, Laurel, Havre, Miles City, and even East Helena. The Rams are allowing just 8 points per game during the season and won by an average of 32 points.

Dillon's only loss was by seven to Frenchtown, so don't count out the Beavers. Keep an eye on last year's runner-up, Columbia Falls, too. The Wildkats are 6-0 against teams not named Dillon or Frenchtown and have outscored those teams 217-22 with four shutouts.

1. Frenchtown (9-0)

2. Billings Central (9-0)

3. Dillon (7-1)

4. Columbia Falls (6-2)

5. Lewistown (7-2)
