Here’s one updated list from the exclusive Cal-Hi Sports state record book with a new all-time leader from last season. This one also still includes a current NBA player in the top 10, but the Earvin Johnson listed is no relation to Magic.
For 31 years, the state record for most touchdown catches in one season was held at least in part by John McKay Jr. from Bishop Amat of La Puente, who caught passes from current USC athletic director and former NFL QB Pat Haden. McKay’s record was tied in 1999, but it was surpassed last year by Deontay Greenberry from Washington Union of Fresno. Greenberry finished with 33 touchdowns and helped the Panthers win the CIF Division III state championship.
