We played well but just not good enough to make the championship game finishing 1-2. However we played a team the was huge and we played them well right up until the last 2 minutes of the game where their size became the edge for them! We showed guts and heart which I was very proud of!

The team played well during the fall league we ended up 9-0.

The team did not play well on Saturday losing game 1 in this double elimination tournament which put us in the losers bracket. We sort of bounced back in games 2 and 3 which put us back in the hunt for the championship. Sunday we played like champions and defeated the LBA Attack who defeated us in game 1 on Saturday by 20. We lost in the championship game by 3 with our achilles heel (free throws) and a couple of calls not going our way.

The team was back to championship form this weekend playing in the 10/11 division. We went 2-1 and took 2nd place I am proud of this team it goes to show if we play as a team and do your job we can accomplish anything!!

We were asked to fill in for a game in this tournament and we did not play up to par, however we pulled out the win in overtime against the 10th grade BRYC Tarheels.

We were short handed all weekend however we still had a good showing from the players who attended. We lost the semis by four. The team had a few crucial turnovers that would have possibly put us on the winning end of the game.

We lost game 1 in this double elimination tournament to High Octane from back shoot selections late in the game. Games 2 and 3 we redeemed ourselves with good wins. Game 4 we matched up against High Octane in the semifinal game to get to the championship game. High Octane came out playing well as we struggled a bit early on in the first half with the score 20-12 at the half. Second half we came out on mission to win going on 9-0 run to take the lead 21-20 on our way to capture the win 35-30. In the championship game the Brave Hearts were no match for the HEAT! We went on to win 58-20.

The team was in championship form this weekend! We blew out our first two opponents by 20 plus points heading into game 3. We were down most of the game and during the 2nd half Harold along with Tyran took the teams playing level up a notch to go on and win the championship game by 16. GREAT JOB TEAM!

We were 3-0 in pool play winning our division and we looked to be winning again in HEAT fashion! The team came out in semifinal (game 4) and play well until we got to around the 4 minute mark in the second half. Once again we missed some layups and foul shots down the stretch that came back to haunt us and lost by 3 after leading by 11. We have to make our free throws down the stretch!!

The team played with pose however free throws and missed layups cost us game 1. The next two games the team was HEATED up and blew out both teams. From the beginning of the semifinal game we were flat and before we knew it we were down by 13. Second half we got within 8 but didn't have enough to get over the hump and lost by 13.

The team played well is this tournament with the exception of game 2 and we still had a chance to win it. Sunday game 3 we came out flat and was down the entire game. With 7 minutes to go in the game we found ourselves down by 15 Mo and Kolbey stepped their game up defensively, which gave the entire team a lift in the right direction. We stormed back with Tyran, Ray and Zach stepping their game up as well! Low and behold with under 3 minutes to go the game was tied at 45 each. We then went on a roll offensively and defensively with baskets and steals and won the game 56-47 GREAT JOB TEAM!!!

Our first tournament of the year and we were just a tad bit rusty but overall with 6 new players we played well!

This team started off slow with an 0-3 record. We got a couple of wins under our belt mid season but finished off the season below 500 going into the playoffs. We started the playoffs as the #4 seed and won our first game putting us in the semi-final game matched up against the #1 seed. This team was huge and had defeated us twice during the regular season. By halftime we found ourselves down 32-19, however the second half we came together and went on a 11-0 run to get within 2. Then the game see sawed back and forth and we finally took the lead with under 3 minutes to go and held on to win 53-50 to advance to the championship game!

Our team had a strong showing in pool play going 2-1 and advanced to the gold bracket and lost in the first round. Overall the team had a great AAU season and I am proud of the progress of the entire team!

This weekned's tournament was very successful give it up for all the players!! We went 4-0 this weekend with a dominating second half performance in the championship game winning by 20 points.

The Team was back to championship form going 3-0 in the tournament. Game 1 vs Metro Celtics A team we were out sized however we played fast and smart leading to victory.
Game 2 vs Metro Celtics B team this team newly formed was no match for the HEAT our press was overwhelming leading us to double digit win.
Game 3 vs Team Hustle very good team however our fast pace offense and aggressive press lead to there big man fouling out and we took control of the game late in the 2nd half and went up by 11. With a 1:30 to go they closed the gap to four and we with stood there run and won by 8. GREAT JOB TEAM!!

Game 1 vs E-Dynasty we started out playing pretty well however as the game played out we started losing composure missing layups free throws and turning the ball over. Before we knew it we were down by 12 halfway through the second half and battled back to within 3 and ended up losing the game.
Game 2 vs Spartans we still were not playing playing to level we are capable of in the first half but took the lead at the half. The Second half we came into our own and played like champions once again and blew the Spartans out winning the game by 20.

Game 1 vs WC Elite our team did not play with the force we are use to having it was a see saw game most of the first half but by half we were down by 10. The start of the second half we were no better and looked up an we were down by 15 points then all of a sudden we began to bring the Heat with 5 minutes to go and found ourselves down by 1with under a minute to go and ended up losing by 4.
Game 2 vs Peake Terps once again we came out flat and not focused another back and forth game most of the game and we lost by 2.
Game 3 vs HC Elite we played a our best game of the weekend, however we were still not playing up to our standards playing down to our competition. It was a close game throughout and late in the game once again we find ourselves down by 5 and battled back to be within 2 and had serval attempts to send the game into overtime and came up short losing by 2.
We lost by a total of 8 points the entire weekend and were able to win each game and fell short by not being focused and not putting forth the best we can be!

The Heat takes 2nd place!
Game 1 vs VA Panthers the game was evenly match most of the first half, however by the end of the first half the Heat were up by 10 points. The second half the Panther's were no match for the agressive play by the Heat we won 55-37.
Game 2 vs DE Dragons from the tip the Dragon's were out played by the Heat our press defense proved to be force in this win. All players played a great game and the Heat won 52-22.
Game 3 vs Freedom Stars-2 the Heat came out agressive offensively and defensively and the Freedom Star's were no match for our intensity Heat won 60-18.
Game 4 the championship game vs Hilltopper Heat, the Germantown Heat was down early 14-0 however we battled back throughout the first half. Late in the first half we got back within 3 points both of our big men were in foul trouble throughout the first half. Second half we were down again by double digits and the team battled back to come within 5 points then the refs took over and we lost by double digits. WE CAN'T BEAT THE TEAM AND THE REFS!

Thanks to you (Mrs. Shone) and Coach Maurice for everything you do for our children. We have a great group of parents and I have had so much fun these last two weekends getting to know everyone better. Not to mention, getting to spend this time with AJ is priceless.

It was a great weekend for the Germantown Heat Boys basketball teams in Richmond, Va. Coach Whitsett’s 8th grade team played the James River Blaze the first game and was on fire! We were making great ball movement and showing James River that we are the HEAT! We won that game 59-36. Our second game was against the Virginia Beach Elite, the game started late and so did our boys. Our first half was a little rough, it was a close game, Coach Whitsett received a technical foul yelling at the refs, but we pulled through. The boys said they wanted to win and that they did! We defeated the Elite 39-37. Our Third game was against the Fredericksburg Heat. It was an 8am game on Sunday and we started off sleepy, but 15 minutes into the game we woke up and began showing Fredericksburg that WE ARE THE HEAT! Our boys found their energy and begin shooting from all over, driving to the basket and making some great shots. We defeated the Fredericksburg Heat 51-34, and we are off to bracket play. This was our worst game for the weekend, too much time in between games this game was at 4pm and was also late. The boys just could not push though this one and we were defeated by the Virginia Venom.

The team did not play well in this All-Star Challenge we lost in the semi-final game, however we had a great time and it was a great experience for the team overall.
JANUARY - MARCH 2014 RISING STARS WINTER LEAGUE A- DIVISION
This talented team enjoyed a great season with a 7-3 record in the regular season. The team advanced to the final four of the playoffs before losing in a tough game. Overall it was a great season and the team has progressed as championship contenders! Coach Mo and his team are ready to take on the Spring/Summer AAU season

Game 1 vs Severn Elite we came out playing well in the first half, however the 2nd half we got out rebounded giving up too many second chance points and lost by 7.
Game 2 vs Celebration Church we came out flat and didn't play well at all. Lunch was our downfall this time we went up and down the court playing like zombies with no focus and lost by double digits.
Game 3 vs Fundamental Hoops was a forfeit and both Fundamental Hoops and Severn Elite drop out of the tournament which put us in the championship game.
Game 4 vs Celebration Church we played sound ball and it was a seesaw game in the first half, as the second half started we kept up with them until late in the game once again rebounding was our downfall too many second chance points and lost by 7. George we miss you please come home soon!!!

Game 1 on Saturday we played against the So. County Steelers the boys came out and played pretty well, but we weren't able to make any jump shots or layups. To make it even worse we could not make any foul shots which put us down by 8 at the half. The second half it all went downhill our defense fell off and we ended up losing by 30 points.
Game 2 on Saturday we played the ETU Warriors the boys jump out on them with a 15 to 2 run early in the first half. We continued to play well during the first half and the Warriors were no match for the Heat! Second half we continued to bring the HEAT and won the game by 25 points.
Game 3 on Sunday we played the ETU Warriors again in the semifinal for the chance to move on to the championship game. Once again the Warriors were no match for the heat! First half we played like we were on a mission by halftime we were up by 20 points. Second half we continued to put on the pressure and before you knew it we destroyed their confidence and won the game by 40 points.
Game 4 Sunday championship game against the So. County Steelers. The Steelers were looking real confident after beating us by 30 points on Saturday. First half we see sawed back and forth and by the half we were down by two 17-19. Second half we went to work with our man to man defense pressuring them into turnovers and missed shots we started to get them frustrated. However the game was still close see sawing back and forth again. Half way through the second half Landon Terry started exploding to the hoop for layups and Adrian Thomas knocked down three 3 point shots in a row at a crucial point of the game and we were up by 7 with 3 minutes to go. Brandon Booker entered the game and played excellent defense on their #1 point guard and had him frustrated to point he committed a technical foul. We maintained our composure and went on to win the game by 4. Great job by all Heat players I'm proud of your hustle, determination and composure!

Game 1 the team came with energy and fought hard against the DC Heat down by 7 with 5 minutes to go we turned up the Heat and won by 4. Game 2 against MD Finest we played a good first half second half we lost our aggressiveness and turned the ball over and lost by double digits. Game 3 was the semi finals we came out playing somewhat well then lost our focus missing open shots and turning the ball over lead to another lost. We finished in 3 place overall out of 6 teams in the 7th grade division.

Saturday game 1 the boys came out and played a good game against the Eliminators with a win. The second game against the Ravens the boys came out flat and kept it close in the first half however in the second half we lost our composure and lost by double digits. Sunday we played well against IBA but coming down the stretch we could not get over the hump and lost by 7.

2013 AYBA RUN N GUN CHAMPIONS March 2013 The Heat were on FIRE!! Coach Moe led the boys to a 3-0 victory. Game 1 the boys more than double the score of the Southern Maryland team. Game 2 the Spartans were no match for the Heat as we blazed the scoreboard with another victory Game 3 We faced Southern Maryland were again they were no match for the Heat but played very well. A clean sweep resulted in the team's first AAU victory of the season as The Germantown Heat. Stay tuned as the Heat's season revs up with more tournaments and championships
