IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM BASEBALL NOVA SCOTIA

Good Afternoon Associations and Bluenose League Coaches,

As all divisions of the Bluenose League have opened their seasons, Baseball Nova Scotia would like to pass along the following message to all teams involved in the league.
BNS has already received complaints and concerns regarding fan behavior. This includes, but is not limited to, harassment of officials, opposing players or coaches, or other volunteers at the field.
While BNS does not have direct access to contact information for all fans or parents in attendance, please note it is the responsibility of the associations and teams to communicate the importance of proper conduct at the field.

Moving forward, BNS will handle complaints of inappropriate fan conduct in the following manner:

1st reported offence - written notice to the association and team contact that complaints were received stemming from conduct of spectators associated with team, such as family, friends, or coaches. It will be the responsibility of the association and team to address the complaint and behavior to ensure there are no further incidences.

2nd reported offence - should the same group be reported for their conduct at the field, the association and team must identify the individuals responsible for the inappropriate behavior. Those individuals will face further sanctions from BNS. Should the incident be considered of a serious nature, temporary team suspension from the Bluenose League may be explored.

3rd reported offence - the BNS Executive will review the status of the team in question. Penalties may include removal from the Bluenose League and Provincial Championships. Reinstatement would not be considered until the association and team can exhibit that measures have been undertaken to address the reported behaviors.
Baseball Nova Scotia does not want to prevent any participant from attending games but will not tolerate groups that are deemed to be conducting themselves poorly at the field. These behaviors create a toxic environment for players, umpires, coaches, volunteers, and fans. BNS will act accordingly to remove such groups that cannot act with good sportsmanship.
-BNS

PLEASE NOTE THAT KENTVILLE MINOR BALL WILL BE HOLDING OUR MEMBERS TO THESE STANDARDS AND WILL IMPLEMENT THE REQUIRED SANCTIONS.

13U A WIN TUBBY MELANSON MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT

Congratulations to the 13U A team who played their hearts out and in Moncton last weekend in the Tubby Melanson Memorial Tournament. They started the tournament off with a win over the Hammonds Plain A’s with a final score of 19-6 on Friday night. Saturday, they faced the 14U Girls NB provincial team at 12pm and walked away with a big 10-1 win. Next, they faced another NB team from Kennebecasis Valley, picking up their third win in round robin, 15-2.

With three big wins the Wildcats came out as the number one seed and moved onto the Semis. Sunday at 10am they faced a very tough Bluenose division rival in the Tri County Rangers. It was a battle to the end with both teams batting and pitching very well. The Wildcats pulled off a 9-8 win to advance to the championship game at 2pm. In the other semi finals two other Bluenose League rivals battled it out to make it to the finals.

The Wildcats faced the Yarmouth Gateways AA in another battle to the end in the final, winning the game 19-15. With amazing batting, pitching, and defensive plays, the Wildcats came home with the tournament win. Head Coach Travis Cox, Assistant Coach Dale Sanford and Assistant Coach Justin McLaughlin are beyond proud of the effort and resilience these boys showed during the tournament, never giving up and fighting until the end.
